I thought that I would lighten up this forum as we get closer to Christmas (NOT Xmas).. Since Stanley posted pics of his Christmas tree, I thought I would do the same albeit on a slightly smaller scale.

As some would recall, and since I'm a little boy at heart Smiley, I had to have a train around my Christmas tree last year.

This Christmas, I went to a smaller tree decorated with 48 'jingle bells'  The N scale train has two blue and white Christmas cars (yeah, I know, not green and red) plus two gondolas filled with very small 'jingle bells', plus a side window caboose with "Merry Christmas" on it.

So, lets see some other Christmas trees here. Whaddya got?

For the last few years we've been visiting a Christmas tree farm where you can take a little saw and go cut your own. Got some damn strange looks the first time we went, when I pulled the chainsaw out of the back of my truck! It took a couple of years but I've finally convinced my wife that we should have real trees, like when we were kids. We haven't got down there this year yet (going on Saturday morning) but here's a pic from last year of us, with my daughter, um, helping I suppose!

Neat picture!
I used to cut my own tree for our family, it was good, but now the family has grown up and at my age, and living by myself, it's easier to just make due with an artificial with built in lights.

The "modern" plastic tree, so realistic that it sheds needles all over the place like a real one.   tickedoff

I've got three artificial trees and don't put up any of them.

I have a big basket of silk vines with a string of lights in it.  At Christmas, I plug it in.

about the same size as ours 4 feet or so tops.  All put together in the basement fits thru the door and most ornaments/lights stay on it year round, takes less than 30 minutes total to get it up from basement and put the few extra ornaments on it.

My mother in law still at age 72 likes to go out and cut her own xmas tree and get it which I never understood, but childhood growing up and traditions vary I guess.  She enjoys the smell of a fresh cut balsam fur tree in her living room where as our living room is smaller and NO room for it anywhere.

I personally think xmas and the rest of the holidays are way overrated and overemphasized.  Was nicer when kids were young and all, but not so much now.  We buy stuff on sale throughout the year and don't buy gifts like we use to when kids were younger.

Okay, you inspired me, I drug the tree downstairs over my lunch break and set it up. I invited my parents to come over and "assist" the triplets and my elder spawn in decorating it this evening. I'll try to get ya' some pics later...

I will have to try to find the pictures ,but here is the story.
Bonnie and I were married in March of 2003 at the home we built.  We did not get the occupancy until September  of that year   (9-11-2003) We have a 22 foot ceiling in the great room. We went to a landscape supply to pick out a tree. It was about 20 feet tall. I fabricated a tree stand out of a propane cylinder and used 2 inch angle iron about four feet long for the four legs and 5/8 threaded rod for the lock screws and a pin in the bottom to lock the tree in to prevent tipping. It held about 10 gallons of water. When the five guys brought the tree , they wanted to put the stand on outside. I showed them that it would not work. They brought the tree in , installed the base, cut the top part of the bag and stood it up. Bonnie sat on the fireplace hearth and said "I guess we (?) over did it". They removed the rest of the packing and the tree opened to about 15 feet in diameter. She said it did not look this big outside. The next tree was quite a bit smaller. She always wanted a large tree.

Tree is not up yet for interest sake, this is a famous house not too far from me....you can only see about half the lights since they come on and off in stages and there`s a whole back yard full of life sized lit up figures and scenes....notice the motorcycle in the front left.....this family lost their Christmas loving son in a motorcycle accident and this is their yearly tribute to him.
