My son and I will be in Atlanta for the Peach Bowl on New Years Eve.  I'm totally stoked because my Cougars will be playing vs. Florida St.  First time in a long time for UH to be in a major bowl game.  Anyway, I'm wondering what kind of weather I might expect during that time?  I may have some extra time and was thinking about renting some bikes and checking out the countryside.  The Houston area has seen more rain than than the past few years, so I might not recommend the expense to someone coming here.  I was wondering if it is the same in GA?

It might be 60 or 70 and sunny or 28 and an ice storm...

You will have to look outside when you get outa bed for the days weather. I spent a pile of time in Atlanta and the weather was what you saw. There is no real answer for you.

If you do rent a bike then head straight up GA 400 towards Dahlonega. If you want any more help with roads to ride just ask.

Here's a route that covers a lot of the popular roads.

I will stress that you need to ride without getting distracted  by the views.

Not challenging your abilities but there are quite a few road side crosses posted for those who ride less than aware.

I understand winter weather.  It's a gamble in most places.  A couple of years ago Texas was in the middle of a multi-year drought.  If you had asked me about riding Texas then, I would have given you a 90% chance for good weather.  I was hoping I might get a similar report.  Cold doesn't bother me, rain is no fun but I do it.  I'm more concerned about my son, rides but not often due to school, etc.  Oh, well.  I already have LA and MO and TN on the spring/summers schedule.  Perhaps it's better to wait.

Thanks

If I could forecast weather 23 days in the future I'd be a rich man.

As a visitor to the Atlanta area in the early 2000's - I'd stay off the interstate beltline around Atlanta. 75 MPH 8 lanes (each direction)  bumper to bumper traffic is NOT my idea of fun....
