I try to NOT make something out of my P G R stuff but feel I HAVE to relate this one. Yong man-55 years-did 10 years in the U S Navy then worked for B A E in Maryland for 25 years and decided to retire back in Missouri. They move back here to the Sho me he gets sick needs dialysis ad passes on. All the important papers are still packed up when he expires. The Lady at the Funeral home KNOWS how burying a Veteran is SUPPOSED to work. No DD 214 no problem give me his SS# and we will get it sorted out. Ft Leonard Wood Mo is a multi force base-NOT just Army. She has the # for the Navy detachment there and calls the Navy. NO DD 214 they tell her no Navy Honor guard!

W T F-over? Remember-important paperwork still packed! She calls the Army detachment and they are PROUD as punch to send an Army Honor Guard. Thank GOD the Lady at the funeral home does a LOT of Veteran internments and KNOWS who to git hold of.

So this U S Navy Veteran had an Army Honor Guard The American Legion Honor Guard and The Patriot Guard Riders to render FULL MILITARY HONORS for him. The Widow in her grief Thanked all the Patriot Guard Riders and the 9 man American Legion Honor Guard. Guys and Gals-IF you have served in our Nations Military Please have a copy of your DD 214 for your S O or other family member especially if you desire Full Military Honors at Your Funeral. If you have the need to arrange a Funeral the Funeral home SOULD know about the requirements in your area. American Legion or V F W and Patriot Guard all need to be requested. ONLY reason I brought this up today is BECAUSE of the S N A F U that ensued for this family. Have yer ducks lined up. RIDE SAFE.
