Those cruise missiles being fired can take them and I think
he wants to show he is tough as badly as POTUS wants to show
he is not willing to ask for a declaration of war from the Congress

If another airliner goes down it would not surprise me

I hope no more planes are lost and the nukes stay on the subs

I wonder what our official response would be... That's what scares me.

(And no, as heinous as many in that area can be, and as much as I'd want to cheer such actions on an animalistic emotional level, I would not celebrate the wholesale slaughter of innocents just to wipe out the evil ones hiding among them.)

I think the real question is does anybody doubt he would. It's a win for him on every front except his relationship with the west. A bunch of dead muslims, with the survivors understanding that Allah isn't as pissed at Russia as he is at the western winnies to "civilized"  to nuke their @$$es.
Basically he's got western Europe over an oil barrel and is merrily having his way with them. No serious consequences from Germany, France, Italy, et al.
The U.S.? Maybe eight years ago there would have been consequences, and maybe there will be sometime after 2017, but for now all he risks is a sternly worded speech of condemnation with a lot of meaningless clichés thrown in.

Yep, what ^BigGuy^ said. Plus-I don't doubt that he'd use them on us if he thought we wouldn't respond likewise. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't with this POTUS nor the next one if it's Hillary. I just don't think he is SURE we wouldn't. Shocked

Pretty sure Putin is pretty smart. He won't use nukes on ISIS/ISIL. He would know it would destabilize far more than solve anything. I would see him putting significant boots on the ground though (Syria).

Problem with ISIS/ISIL is that they don't have a country or exist within a definable border. They have permeated virtually every country on the planet to some degree.

If ISIS/ISIL ever established their own country then, I could see Putin, as a response to another attack on Russian interests, introduce the lot of them to Allah directly.

But as of now, ISIS/ISIL is just too embedded in too many countries to make a nuke strike sensible.

If I can figure that out Putin can too.

The Russians have had nukes as long as we have, lots of them. They
have proven themselves to be rational...

While the thought of isis/isil going up in a nuclear cloud has a certain appeal the thought of the nuclear cloud scares the livin crap outa me. There is a REASON the people of Japan hated things nuclear for a long time. RIDE SAFE.

There has been only one country to drop a nuke in anger.

As close as things came in the 60s, it still didn't happen.

I would expect these crazy middle east countries to use one if they could, but, I'm thinking Putin is smarter than that.

There's 2 areas I would be seriously concerned about using Nukes -
1. North Korea
2. Any country in the Middle east (with the possible exception of Isreal)

And you can add ISIL / whatever they call themselves. I can just imagine them setting one of in any major city. (the bigger the better - to spread more chaos).

You will note I'm not too concerned about Russia, China, France, Great Brittain, India or us. Pakistan perhaps a bit more than India, but again - not too likely.  Most of Europe is not too much of a concern either (western and Eastern).

So far the foul man in the White House has done very little to stop Putins land grabbing.

Putin could roll right in to Syria without a whisper of outrage from the foul man.

What, he's already got air bases there!

What, he's already got tanks there!!

What, he's already got troops there!!!

Phew at least Putin has been warned.

Hope Putin is NOT going to do something like cross a red line.  2funny

Whereas zero makes lame assed excuses Putin on the other will actually DO something other than lame assed excuses and posturing. zero believes it won't get done militarily? Has he EVER studied history? And-yes-I do realize there are no winners in war-but one side or the other WILL give up or surrender. Depend on who gets tired of the horrors first. RIDE SAFE.

Possibly the only way we will know for certain if Putin would use the ultimate in weapons is if ISIS brings the attacks to Moscow. At that point I think Putin would be forced to react severely to preserve his standing and credibility with his own followers. If the intelligence reports are correct, he has reached a reall low point in approval with citizens and his military.
There have been many improvement on atomic weapons in size, yield and especially the length in time of dangerous fallout lasts.
When the enemy is indistinguishable from one another then more will be considered collateral damage.
Our rules of engagement have already been relaxed for very liberal interpretation, slippery slope from here on in.
