My twin grandsons decided to come early. Too early in fact. They each weigh about 2 lbs. They could use all the prayers they can get right now. They are stable and have good vitals but have a long way to go before they can leave the hospital.

Sending prayers their way, went through the same thing with my daughters twins, it was touch and go for a short while, now they are the greatest 8 year olds in the world.

They'll be in our thoughts. Those NICU nurses are angels in disguise, and can work miracles.

How early were they if you don't mind me asking?

Our triplets came at 31 weeks 5 days, our smallest was 2 pounds 15 ounces, and looked like this the day he was born:

And now four and a half years later he's this little imp:

Please keep us updated, please be prepared, the drama level of the NICU is very high, there WILL be setbacks, just hoping they're minor and infrequent, but be prepared for them.

Oh, and NICU nurses love cookies and fruit trays!

Thanks for the prayers of everyone. I don't have exact official numbers but they were at 27 weeks. Both are still doing well this morning. Thanks for the heads up on the nurses, I'll. Be sure to take care of them too!

Another thing to consider, I know mom and dad's minds are elsewhere right now, but preemies born under 2 pounds 10 ounces generally qualify for Social Security Supplemental Income benefits. Mom and dad might want to look into it sooner rather than later, even with good insurance having preemies can be very expensive (Even after they're home.)

Prayers from Northen Indiana. Our family also has been blessed with a premee, (my cousin) he was 25 weeks old. Now he is the meanest 5 year old on the block.

Smart move to consider financial help for sure, as Evan does cost a little more on the medical side.

Another bump in the road, Elias and Ethan are going to be moved to another facility that has a surgical team that can help with some possible issues. I am confident that the God is in control and he hears our pleas. It's wonderful to have people for all over the country to ask for special attention for little ones they have never seen. Thank you all for your faith and your concern.

Ethan and Elias have been at the UK Children's Hospital for about 36 hours and they are doing well. Medication for Elias seems to be doing its job which for time being takes surgery off the table. Mom is pumping and the boys are being fed by tube and that is working well too. The grandparents,  Judy and I have not seen them since the move as we had to get flu shots. Possibly get to hold them tomorrow. No way to repay everyone's kindness and concern. The Lord is great and continues to bless us all.

I hope I'm not being annoying with my suggestions, but the memories are still pretty fresh for me (I guess they always will be). Once the kiddoes are stable enough for it, suggest mom and dad request some kangaroo care time with the kids. It sounds silly, but... it's pretty good stuff, can help the kiddoes and the parents as well...

And I'm sure ya'll got a speech about it, but this being RSV season, even if it's tough to stay away, if you have ANY suspicion you might have the sniffles... don't go to the NICU...

Also... if you don't mind, what's their full names and room number, so we can do the VRCC thing and start sending e-cards? Wink (I also understand if ya'll prefer to not divulge that information of course...)

Your insight is appreciated as well as the pictures you posted. I let my son see your before and later pictures and it really gave him a lift. I think they have already been told about the "Joey pouch" and are looking forward to it.
