This summer I was out on my valk on a mostly wet day, and decided
to go and do a burnout. I knew a place where I could push the front tire into a wall,
and the pavement was wet, so I did.
Let the clutch out and lit 'er up. So weird and cool at the same time. And a car tire stinks.
My question is about the next step for me. Has anybody done a standing burnout,
no wall to block the front tire, and a car tire out back. See, the car tire has a lot more grip,
and the front brake may not hold it back, assuming I get 'er lit up at all, without dumpin her.
I've seen a bunch of videos on utube of Valkyries doing burnouts, but with bike tires.
So I'm asking if anyone has properly done a standing burnout with a car tire on dry pavement.

Try painting a coat of oil or antifreeze on the tire contact surface of the tire and it should get it going. Thing I don't get, why would you take a toy that you baby better than the wife and family and beat the crap out of it. Seems to me taking powerful vehicles and cranking them up, with no load on them can't be good for them. Just curious why!!

Why do it? Mostly so when someone asks, I can say, like TJ, yeah I did. After my blocked front tire test, it was clear that the only drivetrain component that was stressed was the car tire. Nothin wrong with a little hooliganism.

Guy I road with used to do it all the time. One day I called him and asked if he was going riding and said he needed a new tire and couldn't afford one right now. I never saw him again. Called several times same story.  Guess if you can afford it. Its OK. We know they all will lite them up. The new Valk will easily spin the tire starting from a slow roll. Personaly I always start from an idle and don't hit the gas till clutch is engaged. Don't get me wrong, I drive it hard but don't beat it up. |

am sure it could. I only did it once on my cycle rear tire but it was ready to be replaced the next few days, just glad it did not POP or I would have a tough time getting it in to get that new rear tire the next few days. I would never do it unless tire was about ready to be replaced the next week or so. I did not do it on my last rear tire since was slowly leaking air already with pinholes all over it this spring when took out of storage in early April. It would help if I was a tad bit taller to get my fat keester all the way up off the seat standing up.  |

The trick is do a "BURNOUT" w/o hold back ! Then you can puff out your chest and crow ! What is DUMD MOVE ! Some guys need to grow up to at least 14. |

My only question would be. What if the tire exploded and when it did it took out your fender or some other goodies on your bike. Saw a car tire explode at work one time when a guy was airing it up took a mighty big chunk out of his face.

I did one this last July 4th. It can be tricky though. The clutch cannot slowly be let out because that car tire does grip and will push the front wheel. Lots of RPM's and quick off the clutch to get her going is the key. Then of course.. hold on for dear life. I did it on dry asphalt.

Not for me judge those who enjoy doing burnouts (your bike, you ride it or play with it however you choose), but personally I've never understood just frying the rear tire with the bike up against a wall or with the front in a wheel chock. A good burnout can be pretty impressive whether it be on a bike or in a car, but usually it's to show off the power you have, is it not? Heck, my old 80's 250 Enduro would've fried the rear tire butted up against a wall.  The member from Europe who just recently posted photos of the guy spelling out VRCC in a parking lot with burnouts, I thought that was pretty cool. Regardless, nice to see members enjoying their Valks in different ways...as my better half always says - and makes sure to use me as a prime example - the 4 stages of a man's life are: Infant; Little Boy; Little Boy; Little Boy  |

Never really understood why anyone would do this but, it's your bike, your tire and your butt so, if that's what you want to do, go for it. Just don't complain when something goes wrong. Not saying you will but, if you do, there won't be much sympathy.

Saw one done this August on a big poker run. All were getting ready to move on to next location when this Vmax 1600 pulls into the middle. Just stands up and let it burn for a good 30 seconds and then sits on the bike and controls about a 3 mph hour continuous burn all the way to the road about 50 yards.
That was impressive.

Should be entertaining It's great when you see a picture of your bike posted by someone else, and with compliments nonetheless. It's a good start to the day. I am mad at myself for not having my 4th of July burnout recorded or at least a picture. I have Blue LED's on the bike and was told that the LED's were lighting up the smoke from the burnout. It was a glorious sight. |

I did it once on a 1971 750 Honda. The chain over extended, wrapped up in the primary and I got to spend a lot of the hard earned money that had been saved.
Doesn't need to rain to have a rainy day.
My friends laughed, nobody had any dough for welding, parts, oil, chain etc.
I have taken off hard on the Valk and smelled the fragrance of rubber though.

Clutch full out and LAND on the loud twister.  With my fat ass in the saddle the front end has come up a couple of times.  Have "launched" across intersections and came back an hour or so later and seen the "patches". I do enjoy watchin others do burnouts. Far as putting MY front wheel again something and lighting up her rear skin-NOT gonna happen. BUT like I sated-I like watchin others do burnouts! RIDE SAFE. |
