There was an AD for a NEW Naza M Controller, at a fair price, so I bought it. Package came in, I opened it, and noticed that electronic parts are not in static bags as most electronic parts are shipped. So I did a closer inspection of the components, well they showed wear, and scratches, missing parts and some parts that didn’t belong.  So I emailed the seller, explained to him what I saw, and said this is not a new system, it is used and the AD expressed in several places it was a New setup.  He insisted it was all new, and I should power it up to see it works, I told him I had reservations because of his inconsistencies  and I would not till I felt comfortable. I suggested that there should be an adjustment in price do to the misleading AD.  Again he insists on me powering up the unit, I felt suspicious, so I told him I would not, so bottom line is, we could not come to an agreement.   So I told him I would contact EBay start a resolution and let EBay make the decision.  So as precaution, I took my SLR, and took some close up pics of all the parts and their condition and added ten of them to the EBay resolution to show they were used.  So this guy emails back with a piddly adjustment, I replied with my own number, which again we did not agree. So I told him I would let EBay settle it, he said go ahead.  I then don’t know how, but this guy got my phone number and called me, OK.  So basically it was the same discussion, him stating it was all new, and I should try it out, and again I told I wouldn’t because I did trust his judgment, this guy really went off on me, saying it was a good deal. I said yes if it was new, but being used and parts are missing, it is not even close to being a good deal.  So the next day he called me again, and agreed to my adjustment. Now he just went 180* on me, so I told him I would let EBay make the decision, he than in a slightly threatening way, he stated upon return of the package he would inspect for damage, right there a big red flag went up.  So shortly after talking to him, I wrote up a description to our discussion and sent it to EBay, letting them what came down.  A few days later I get an email from EBay, him giving his results of his inspection of the returned parts, he stated “Components were damaged, pins were bent, and look like someone dropped the controller, the unit is basically junk and unusable”.  So again, I get an email from EBay stating they would be giving their decision either way in 48hrs. WELL, I guess it was a No Brainer; EBay refunded my money, stating his accusation did not match the images of the parts I took.  Oops!! I forgot to tell him I took and sent the pics Oops!!
So what the hell does this have to do with the price of coffee??  First of all, EBay can and will protect honest transaction as long as you have you ducks in a row. So they will come through for us, just need to be calm and patient.  The second thing that kind of baffled me, in our discussion, he gave me an analogy concerning our issue. He stated “ If he were to go into a store and take a shirt out of the package and put it on, than take it off and out it back into the package, he asked if it would be considered new or used, I told him with our a doubt is was used not new. Then that told me I was crazy and wrong, it was still new. So I found it interesting and confusing on how people think today, and they believe they are right on what they do. Just call me Sigmund Fraud, Ebay is not all bad!!

After many years experience selling on ebay, over 75k worth,, I have found that ebay always defaults in favor of the buyer. I have seen many buyers not return stuff,, say its lost,, and even lie to the max and damage product,, like phones dropped into water and returned to ebay,, all the  while I try to be honorable,, but they never listen to the seller. I finally got sick of it and quit altogether. That's the sellers side of this story.

Glad it worked out for you, dreamaker. I have a fair amount of experience with buying on Ebay. I don't think to my recollection I've sold anything yet on there but I do know a couple points.

The Seller is NOT supposed to contact you directly, per Ebay policy. So he broke that rule and that might have factored in to EBay's decision when they were looking at facts and seeing who followed the rules. You were wise to take pics and send them!

Secondly, as far as the shirt example. Technically, the shirt if tried on but then put back into the package imo would be considered a new OPENED item...and Ebay has a category for that.
In your case, new should have meant Unused, unopened, and in original sealed packaging unless it's specified that it's not retail packaging(as some electronics from China come in plain vanilla wrapping).

You done good!

I have sold many things on EBay, I never play the mislead game in any way or form. If something has a nick or scratch or something wrong, I note it and show it in the picture. When sold, I also take a pic before I close the packed box, just in case the delivery company plays Pet Detective with it. I have always had 100% with my deals, so I protect it, it reflects my creditability.

Here is an example of his, Not new condition, but Brand New in the box, of one of the parts.

I bought my Aeromate truck on eBay, based on good pix and a thorough conversation with the seller. I flew down to Georgia and drove it back. I still have it 15 years later.....

I believe on the most part, when new concepts, like high tech products, or web sites and sites that wheels and deals have the best intentions in mind, and want to share the service. BUT, of course history teaches us that there is always a rotten apple in the batch.  And in some cases, for some underachievers outside the box, its just the thrill of getting something over on someone, and just making people miserable, that give them a thrill. EBay is like the stock market, you got to pay attention on what you are doing, and keep your butt covered.

It's the flight controller for a quad or hexacopter that has the gyros, barometric sensor, gps, and whatnot that makes everything work.
It's the brains of the outfit.  DJI makes the Naza M and Naza Lite systems.  I use the NAZA lite since I don't need the added stuff of the "M".
