So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: January 01, 2016, 03:12:56 AM »

While I have my own personal choice, I wonder who the membership would pick if this was a real selection process.    There are some members who I would suggest are most interesting, some who I feel fall into either the naughty or nice categories but, who would be the VRCC Person of the Year if we picked someone for such an honor.

Who most represents VRCC?
Who did more in 2015 to promote VRCC values.
Who represents us best.
Or, who is the most interesting, who would you pick?
I'm sure there are many other issues to be considered.

For me, it's between two or three and it's a close call but all I feel I'm blessed to call my friend.
Who would you chose?   Yeah this can get personal but, it would be an badge of honor.

The vrcc is a family, with strange cousins, brothers and sisters
of seemingly polar opposite views about everything as well as those who ride constantly or seldom as their health and personal stuff  allows

Just like there is no I in team I dont myself have a favorite.

I could however pick a few dozen I would ride with any time or who I would not hesitate to run to aide if need be with a place to stay or whatever and about a dozen would qualify in my eyes.

To me that says a lot about this family

I think I would say Willow and or the staff at the VRCC.

I really don't think you can acknowledge one individual member with one notable exception, "Willow", being he is the most vocal member/admin of the VRCC and has done the most to promote, regulate, support, run and almost chief cook and bottle washer. I don't know anyone who fits into the guidelines that you wrote better than him. He even in the roughest of times has not abandoned the board, always has been a moderator, rides, and just supports this site in so many ways. He is the confrontational member of the staff here and while my hats off to all staff, I think Willow being in this position is worthy of a special acknowledgement.

Otherwise I don't find one member I can say I would like to acknowledge over another. I don't think its a good idea with this one exception, because to pick one member could be to exclude some. I agree with OSS in what he wrote,

"The vrcc is a family, with strange cousins, brothers and sisters"

Never liked competition in these areas just acknowledgement that everyone here is valuable and from what I have seen 99% are those who would stand with a brother or sister here.

In a world of separation, unification would be more needed especially with the different backgrounds and experiences we all come from.

I appreciate the compliment, Robert, but you need to know that a lot of work goes on with the staff that is unseen by the public at large.  Connie, very specifically spends time locating and arranging the InZane gathering which is a primary part of what makes the VRCC what it is.  She is likewise responsible for decisions and directions of the VRCC staff and, by extension, the VRCC itself.  Scott handles all the internet requirements regarding the message boards and communication for the VRCC.  My name is well known to you only because I am the one who is most mouthy and spends time moderating the boards, oftentimes when its really not that needed.

I think maybe the SmoknJoe best represents, but with Oss I would say it takes too many to single out one.

But, you certainly are the person out in the "public" the most!  Thank you, Carl.

I know what you mean about Connie and Scott and others.  They are like linemen, doing most of the work, while you, the QB, gets the glory!  Or, the blame.

Having set up a couple VOAI Reunions, though on a much smaller scale than the VRCC, it is a mammoth undertaking, and my hat is off to them. Thanks to all of you.

Carl thank You and totally agree with your lifting up the rest of the VRCC staff but any time there is a confrontation you seem to be point man that alone gives you a dubious distinction. But as I have said my hats off to all the VRCC staff thank you for your time, effort, and ideas. I know you are paid extremely well for your efforts.  Roll Eyes  Grin

Robert,
I understand and agree to a great extent but, among any group of people, there is always a stand out or three.   I fully expected Carl to be nominated and he would be one of the few on my list but, there are others..............

While it's a nice idea for a thread, I wouldn't want to make a pick. There are too many important members and staff here.  As OSS said, we are a family--sometimes a dysfunctional one, but a family none the less.

I would like to chime in and thank the hardworking staff for all they do. Along with the ones already mentioned, I'd like to include Damon, the rest of the hard working Kinter family, and Lori in that group.

And thanks to SmokingJoe, who would truly be the Ambassador of the group for organizing the many rides and reports that he does!

Well done, everyone!

I could not single out one person for such an honor as there are many who would be excellent choices.  All those mentioned by others are well known as carriers of the VRCC banner.

The first thing that entered my head on this topic was people who left us in 2015 who I will miss the most.  The top of that list is R.J.
