Belated birfday present to me. Winter project. Artistic pic 20 in pencil bbl 1:9 twist so I am not stuck with the little bullets. Been thinking of doing this for years, reliving a part of my formative years. Walked into a vendor at Camp Perry and on the rack with all of the fancy match, bull bbl and railed uppers, there it sat. A A1 upper. I walked out of the store, made about 4 steps, and knew if I didnt do it, it would probably not happen, turned around and bought the upper, and all the parts right then and there. Ordered the lower 2 days after my birthday Its a Nodak spud lower. Only issues were the detent pin, and the buffer retaining pin. I figured out the pivot pin detent pin, but when I went to put it all together and pushed the buffer retaining pin down, it stuck. I cant move it so it is with someone who can before I muscle .... it and screw up the lower. Probably a bit of anodizing.

Very nice! But aren't the forward assist, shell deflector and dust cover from a later generation? I need to build a triangular handguard old school AR one of these days... Dangit, I do NOT need another AR!

Nice! I have an almost 30yo 20" A2 H-Bar, all original, but nothing ancient like that. Got to fire the ancient ones in the Air Force though, which was especially fun with the three-position selectors. Got the old GI helmet and woodland cover too.

Very nice! But aren't the forward assist, shell deflector and dust cover from a later generation? Nope. The upper came with a duckfoot flash suppressor so instead of a honest A1 I went with a transitional XM16. Its a pretty honest build. A1 parts are not common so you kind of take what you can get. There were a bunch of versions starting with the charging handle under the rear sight assembly/ carry handle. I could get a little closer to what I had if I get a flat butt stock with the trap door, but I'm OK for now. I need to build a triangular handguard old school AR one of these days... Dangit, I do NOT need another AR! Ya know ya want to, everybody does it.

Not going thousands to get the rock and roll setting though. They pulled hard on full auto.

It's definitely NOT a true full auto, but it's $399 instead of the $25,000+ that a transferable M16 runs, but this Binary Trigger System, which utilizes the 3rd position of the safety lever, has definitely piqued my interest... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVJHVqgXRVI

That Binary Trigger System seems to take real marksmanship out of the equation, if you just keep rocking away on the trigger. Good for a crowd or cluster, outdoors or indoors, but with fewer more distant targets, the semi would be the better choice for aimed fire. On the other hand, if you just used it for individual double taps with a precise aimed first shot, you might have something there; used in that mode, it would approximate the function of the three-shot burst autos. You'd have to practice and see how tight you could get your two-shot spreads. Of course it has both semi and binary choices. Not exactly bulletproof reliability if you keep rocking on it. But doubles might be very reliable.
Great to add to a suppressed SBR, if you had one of those.
Hard to believe ATF gave that an easy pass.
$400 for the unit, and it must be installed by their certified armorers.
They pulled hard on full auto.
I only got a few mags on full auto, and held the trigger down to empty for the experience. I tried to hold on target, but only the first couple rounds hit it. LOL

Shoot on pull and shoot on release allows for easy 2 shot aimed fire once the shooter gets acquainted with the system. The release shot can easily be the most accurate round since it is just a finger relax instead of a finger pull.
This was first discover years ago. Because of production tolerances it was found that some AR's would fire on release if the trigger was release just a small amount instead of full release. All AR's would not do this but some would because of the timing of the handoff from the disconnector to the trigger.
When those that would do this were found they were usually returned for parts replacement to prevent the 2 shot capability. As it was considered a mal-function.
And yes the handoff can be adjusted to cause this. Along with the learning curve of just how much to release the trigger.
Warning: after adjustment the AR could be considered dangerous in the hands of someone that does not realiize how it has been changed to work. As they may fire a second shot without intending to.
I would NOT suggest altering the handoff and I will not disclose how or assist anyone in doing so.

I've got the suppressor, and been toying with the idea of doing a form 1 for this pistol... Hmmm...

Yes, and then add a carbine butt stock (and Ergo righty grip, and little green laser). Get it all set up and I'll buy it from you. We just can't tell anybody (pinky swear).

When you use the plural on safes, it reminds me I have almost no space left in mine (it's a regular Rubik's Cube as it is). Avoiding a 2d one is probably my only hope of maintaining a balanced budget at the Jess household. Whoever thought the rule about garages and sheds would be equally applicable to safes? Sharing a cell at the Fed would be nice and all, but not exactly in my retirement plan. Varmintmist sorry for the drift here.
