Yup I found a super clean 03 vmax I have a 1500 valk now . I am just wondering if anyone has any info on these and if they truly all they are said to be I love my valk but the lure of a bike that is 3-400 pounds lighter with 140 hp seems to be drawing me in tightly it has 15000 miles on and he is asking 5500.00 please I need thoughts and opinions asap because I will be buying tomorrow if I truly like how I fit in the saddle

I owned a 97 Gen 1 V Max for years.
I liked it a lot. It was comfortable after I added a set of highway pegs, had a Corbin seat , and a windshield.,

Fast, hell yeah it's fast. Smoked my buddy who was riding a Valk standard real good. Took him to about 135 to 140mph on my part, he dropped off about 115mph. Good thing I slowed down, as soon afterward I  came up on 4 troopers working radar!

I also had a 2009 2nd Gen V Max. That was in a whole nother league. Blindingly fast but handled so much better then the first one, plus ABS as well.

I'd say go for it, they're reliable fun machines!

Fastest production bike when they came on the scene surpassing the V 65 magna and continue that today.  From light to light hang the heck on, not so good on cornering although newer ones maybe.  A good place to go is the forum  V4 Muscle bikes.  The Vmax has many dedicated riders there who can help you out.

I would get the vmax and keep the valk.

Ya that's my plan vmax for those puddle runs and the need for speed days. I will be keeping the valk to for when momma wants to go in a touring day. I feel they are different enough machines to not get bored with either one of them

If it is comfy and you are able to test ride it here in WI to go for a short 10 miles spin around the block to see if you like it and have the room to store 2 bikes and financial means to own both,  go for it, you only live once right.  Yes, the Vmax will spank a Wing or Valk.  The Wing is only slightly faster than our Valk's, but a Vmax or 1000cc crotch rocket will walk away from them with the right rider.  Just be careful, that much power can get you into trouble.

I own 2 bikes, well sort of, a 249cc scooter classified as a cycle (anything over 50cc's is a cycle) and my Valk I/S.  I use one for short commutes to moms and work, the other to work and longer commutes.  If I had the room for another bike,  that Wing I have been looking at locally would be in my garage as well, but NO room for 3 bikes.  I can squeeze that rather large 320lb. scooter which feels like a dirt bike weight wise in front of the Valk I/S, but another Wing will NO way fit inside my garage and don't want it sitting outside under a cover or in my enclosed trailer.

I had an '06 VMax.
Comfortable? Not so much. Difficult to get gas into the tank and not much range.
Fast?.....Holy Hell is it fast! That turn-up at the rear of the seat is there for a reason...to keep your butt from going off the back.
You literally have to remember to have a firm grip on the handlebar grips if you nail it in first or second or your hands will come off the bars......ask me how I know.
Some have trouble with second gear staying in. Test drive and hit it as hard as you can to see if it stays in gear.
Fun? You bet! The Harley guys are the best. When you pull up to one at a light they act like they don't see you. They always let you leave the light first  lol.
Price seems on the high side to me.

Hey Brutewing,

I will have to guess that you don't realize that they make forward controls for the Vmax and that they usually start around $300?

SUpercharger on a V-Max - does that rider have a deathwish ? I'd have to say the same about anyone who wants to seriously hop-up our Valks - you need more power than stock ???? Or are you into shredding tires ?

A good friend of mine used to have a liter-class sportbike Suzuki, then he put some nitrous on it and took it for a ride - he PROMPTLY removed the nitrous - too damn fast....

A good set of flat side carbs, run the V-boost open at idle, and a good set of pipes and those engines sound just like a heavily cammed-up Small Block Chevy!

Listen to a few of these.

Mine looked and sounded like the one at 5:50 into it.

If  you didn't like the vmax,   maybe try a used suzuki b-king?  They are faster than the vmax but when comparing 10 seconds vs. 11 seconds in a 1/4 mile, who really cares????  Both will get you into trouble way too quickly.

I'd be lucky to crack the 13 (possibly 14) second 1/4 mile which is plenty fast enough for me on the Valk.

I do think the Vmax once became faster than the mid 80's 1098cc 4 cylinder V65 magna was all the rage way back then when I wanted so bad the v64 magna in the late 80's.  It is even more impressive a marvel nowadays.
