After deciding that the world of accounting was not for me, I had dropped out of business school to see what else was out there. A friend drove me around to possible employers in Ft.Wayne so I could put in some applications. Well, GE called me and I went in for an interview. I started work the next day(Feb. 11, 1964) as a sweeper. After working at several jobs within the local GE plant, all of them were just plain factory jobs, I was able to retire in late 1999 with almost 36 yrs. of service at the age of 55. So, here I sit at 71 and retired for about 16 1/2 yrs and have mostly enjoyed all of them.
To make this Valk related........I had purchased my Valk in July of '98 and rode it until May of 2014 when I moved on to an F6B. Due to the fact I'm no longer a Valk owner, I don't post here much anymore but I do check in from time to time to see what's goin' on. I might be in the Morgantown area in June. Not sure yet.
You may now return to your previous program.  Cheesy

10-4 on that Bruce. I well remember the days that You, Pas, Kat, Terry, & I spent tearing up the BRP and connecting roads in the Smokies. Good times for sure. I've slowed a bit, probably couldn't keep up with that version of me anymore. Wink

Yeah, those were some really good times, for sure. I don't ride like I did back then either! 'Wiser' or 'Wimpier', not sure which in my case, but either way I've slowed down and become a very non-aggressive rider! My temperament is more suited to 'easy going' riding styles anyway, so it is definitely an improving situation. You going to InZane? If so, see ya there...

Nice to see you on the board, Doug. I'm certainly glad to know that I'm not the only one who has slowed down and I'm also glad to know that I'm the only one to quit riding because of age, Hang in there.  You Too, Bruce!

As of now, Chris, Mark, and I, are going to Inzane. I hope that doesn't change. If you decide, you are welcome.

You may now return to your previous program.  Cheesy         Good for you. I hired on to GE in Ma. in 62 but due to a strike at the end of 64 I left to move to Socal to live with relatives and being early 20s wanted to find out about those " Valley girls". I married one within a year and still married to her. I got back to GE in 1980 until they closed up and shipped everything overseas. Started to collect my GE pension In 05. One thing they do have is a good pension. I only had a total of 13 years and can't complain.

No, mine was the "rare" black standard with Kury ISO Grips.  laugh

This thread brings up a pleasant flash back memory I occasionally have.   I 've owned Hondas most of my life, but sold my last one, a Valkyrie a few years ago when I moved to the mountains with snow and no garage...   mostly ride Urals now.

However,  this flashback is when I bought my very first Honda S90 as a sixteen yo in 1966.  I can still picture the gold HONDA stenciled on to the rear edge of the seat as they were rolling "my" bike out to the back of the shop for my "First Ride" on "my" very first motorcycle...  the joy I felt then still brings a tear to my eye today...
