He'll surely be blamed for it....

Very bad news for the country, O is sure to appoint another flaming liberal, and stack the deck more to his liking.  I am sure this sad occasion has made him extremely happy.

You guys do realize this is part of being president ? When the court has vacancy they nominate a person of their leanings. Reagan did it, Bush did it , that's why we have an election. I know that I'm not happy when a Justice dies, regardless of their leanings. But this is life, people pass on or retire. The only thing I am "happy" about would be that maybe now "Citizens United" will be overruled. Which will be GREAT for our country.

RIP Justice Scalia.

Best wishes for his wife and family.

I remember one time when he was on 60 Minutes as an interviewee. It was a really interesting piece about him and how the SC worked internally.

Anyone nominated must be confirmed by the Senate.    My bet is, the next Supreme Court Justice will be nominated by the next POTUS.    Regardless of who that is.

This is the best appointment. Since only 2 years ago he was unanimously voted in as D.C judge. How
can either side have a problem with him now? This would be a very smart move.

Sri Srinivasan-
He was confirmed by the United States Senate by a vote of 97–0 on May 23, 2013.

It will be a whole new story if he is nominated.  Smiley

OTOH - there won't be enough egg in the entire country if the Republicans don't act on Obama's nominee, and if Sanders comes through as the president elect... - or even Hillary....

As I recall, Nixon gave us Stevens and Bush (GHW) gave us Souter, both very liberal justices.  OTOH, I can't think of a single conservative justice appointed by a dem president in recent history.

I don't have a problem  with The current Pres. selecting nominee.. thats his job.... If the guy selected is qualified then he should get the job....

I have a problem with Senators saying they are going to tie it up for months just "because" blah blah blah.......

The same guys who say that Washington needs to be more effective and do their jobs....

I say that they don't get paid until the government is properly staffed and working properly...

LOL

Their arguement that a "Lame Duck" president shouldn't nominate falls short - one only needs to go back to President Reagan.

Technically, a "lame duck" president exists right after he's elected for his 2nd term.

Marco Rubio really needs to re-think his statement on that...
