99  w/61K

Last Sunday afternoon, I was doing my semi-weekly, or so, check on Craigslist for any thing Valkyrie, when this Interstate popped up.

Ad said the normal stuff, like smooth cruiser, good condition, etc.  Also, it had new Corvette Blue paint.

It posted a low price, that I won't mention, so you guys that passed on it won't be too upset. Shocked

I thought it was one of those scams, the ones where the owners on a cruise ship and the bike is at the shipper just waiting for me to send the owner some money.  So at first I didn't pay it much attention.

I then noticed it was listed in Atlanta, humm, my brother lives in Georgia.

Then I noticed the home town was listed as Canton, GA.  My brother LIVES in Canton Ga.!!

This bike is talking to me.

So I texted the owner, and about an hour and a half he calls me back.

Tells me he bought it a couple of years ago from some guy out of Charlotte.  It was Red & Black and he didn't like it so his kid painted it.  Ut oh, I'm thinking.

Said only one guy has looked at it so far, claimed he knew his way around Valks, but didn't buy it. another Ut-Oh.

Said it runs good but he's only put a few hundred miles on it due to no time and too many toys.  He also owns several HD'd and a Valk Tourer.

He noticed my phones area code and asked if I was from Mass.  I said I was, and he said he grew up in Auburn,MA about 20 mins down the road from my house.

Ok, I say, I'm sending my brother over to check it out, just too much going my way NOT to look.

My bro looked at it the next day and told me it was everything the owner said it was.   He took it down the road and it ran straight and true.

To me, this bike is priced 1500 to 2000 under it's low ball value, so I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it never did.

The bike is now in my brothers garage, my check book is just a little lighter, and I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out.

Then the seller tells me, that if I can't get down to GA to pick it up, he's coming north in June to hit Americade and will put it in his trailer and I can pick it up there.

Turns out, I'm already going to NY for that week and am going to Americade, so I can just bring a trailer and pick it up.

It's like Valhalla and the Valkyries wanted me to have this bike, at least that's what I going with when someone asks why I need another bike.

Most likely, I'm jumping a jet and riding her home in April or May.

Sometime, the bear gets you, sometimes, you get the bear.   It appears this time, you got the bear.   Congratulations.   cooldude

For some reason, I always feel like bear bait.    Undecided

If you got it for 5K or under you done REAL good, but being Corvette blue you need 8 cylinders, not just 6 ya know?   Cheesy

I've seen a few used goldwings popping up in the 7-8K range about 3-5 hour drives away from my house but not taking the bait yet though.   Embarrassed

Fly 'n ride! That's how ALI and I started out! Yep, I flew to NC, picked her up at the dealership in Hendersonville, then rode her back to FL... and the rest is history. So far, we've even lived happily ever after together...

Hook, Pappy is right... there is a certain magic involved with a fly 'n ride, and since you've already become aware of much magic already at work here, well... Good luck, though, however you decide to go... It's all good!!!

Congrats!  I found an Interstate with some choice bling and 51k on the clock late last fall, paid what one might expect to shell for a Tourer.  C'mon spring!
