Just left the group at E470 & Smoky Hill headed SE to home, going past the big King Soopers in east Aurora. Yeah I was over the limit I'm sure but not crazy fast. Had just left the cars behind as a merge lane is coming up. A bimbo pulled out crossing my path ahead to my right. Slammed on the brakes but if she didn't stop a swerve wouldn't help. We woulda hit, me doing around 40. Would have been serious. The incredibly bright 4000 lumen LED spots and my 130watt high beam saved my bacon I'm sure. The bike throws light like a locomotive. She pulled halfway across my side of the 6-lane and stopped. Missed by 3 feet.

Glad you're ok to tell about it, Mark. I know first hand how fast things can happen on a bike. My first Interstate was totaled in 07 when the exact same thing happened. Girl pulled out in front of me(blew a stop sign) and I hit her in her driver's door doing 45mph.
Were you on the new bike or Deerslayer? I was just wondering if you were able to hit her with a blast of train horn?

I was on Jade. All it has is a Wolo. I would really like to put a big horn on it like Deerslayer but I'll need to put the air tank somewhere else. I could likely put say a couple butane type tanks between the carbs. But they would be hard to access and fix any leaks. Might add this to my projects later. |

I had a Stebel on my two Interstates and they were pretty loud....just not anywhere need as loud as a speeding locomotive---or at least a Valkyrie that sounds like one....haha. |

What I want to know..... why is merging on to a freeway (or any main road) so damnable hard for some people? You LOOK, and yield to existing traffic flow, and ease your way in nicely. Criminy it's not rocket science.
Adding insult to injury, when the airheads screw up (and you just know it's not their first time), they slam the brakes on, like that is going to make things better. (OK maybe it helped you)
Feed 'em through the chipper.

Good that no harm came to you. Denver...woof. My wife and I went there last week to attend a hockey game and driving in Denver is just a nightmare. Too many drivers that just race around both on the freeways and off. Red light runners are rampant there. We only make a couple of trips per year and I find myself just dreading the experience. Actually, we park the car and take the light rail into downtown from our hotels south of the city (E. Arapahoe). We take the auto when we go; there are just too many motorcycle fatalities in the metro area. I give you credit for braving the conditions that exist there. Ride as safe as you can and trust for more good luck coming your way. |

take a few moments, accept how precious this too short ride on this rock is and keep on trucking.
texters...used to do miles and miles on the highway...I'd be passed, or slowly pass someone, and there their face is looking down texting....I'd shoot out their tires, but I know they'd roll that POS into my lane..
and yes, I need to give my new ride the LED "wtfbbq is that thing coming" light treatment.
You should get an insurance rate cut if you prove you've bristled up your bike with (good) LED's

After being hit I stuck LEDs all over the back of the Valk and the Model A. The way folks drive though I find myself riding less.
