Been living in my area for almost 15 years.  In that time, I have eaten the worst Chinese food ever!!!  Probably better than most parts of the country, but definitely not up to New York standards.  Then, on a beautiful sunny day, I happened to have found an old place that is under new management.  Tried it about a month ago for the first time.  Everything was great.  Three times since, also all great.  I just ordered and am awaiting delivery and salivating as I type.  This wandering Jew finally feels like he is home. 

Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech Ha-olam, Hamotzi Lechem Min Ha-aretz.

Years ago I used to travel from mahopac to elmsford to pick up Chinese food. Don't even know if it's still open. Hope it remains as unsoiled tonight as your memories are of the food.

I do grocery shopping at the "Great Wall" in Duluth GA.

There's a food court featuring Chinese, Korean, Thai etc. The food court is always busy with 90% Asian people.

What I find living in Florida and what I really miss about NY is the good food on almost every corner. The same in California but Florida is high prices for not that great cooking.

The problem with a lot of Chinese is that they reuse yesterdays leftovers with today's batch.

So your most popular restaurants probably have the least amount of that.
