I just bought a real cream-puff from the original owner. My wife just noticed where a sticker on the left side of the head tube is missing...obvious adhesive left behind. Size about one inch high by four inches wide.  I am assuming this was the vin/info tag, but there are no numbers actually stamped anywhere near the headtube that I can find....?   The engine number matches the title.

Is there someplace else on the frame I should be looking for an actual stamped number...1999 Standard model Valk.

Any advice as to where to look appreciated.

The vin # is stamped on the "head tube" on the opposite side from the "sticker"

At least it's supposed to be.

Stickers that come lose are often transferred elsewhere (whether legal or not), like inside a trunk, bag, side cover, the owners or Honda manual.

The VIN is stamped (as mentioned above).  This is to make sure this exact issue doesn't make the bike unable to be registered.

The Sticker gives more info like year and such (and several other things).  Honda can get all that info from the VIN.

What a dope. Closer inspection with a flashlight shows it stamped on the right side, up high, 1/4 tall numerals... all looks kosher. Ifi it was a snake it woulda bit me...as they say. Thanks for the prompt responses.

on another note, is it common for the input shaft to run kinda noisy when the bike it warm? Goes away as soon as the clutch is pulled and the input shaft stops.

Good to hear. I love this bike. Been contemplating buying one for over three years.  Finally a local dealer had one on the lot so I test drove it and was more smitten than I expected I would be. Spent 10 days looking at every listing within 350 miles. There is a great bike in CL at a small dealer in Lancaster at a great price FYI. Only 18 K miles.  Mine has 48k freeway miles, is yellow and white and virtually spotless. Bought from original owner. It was a 99 model he bought new in June of 2001 for $9495 in Los Angeles. Obviously a niche bike with narrow appeal, but exactly what trips my trigger.
Too bad NoCal doesn't have a club, but we do have BARF... Bay Area Riders Forum and it has huge membership and many organized rides of all types every week. This Forum is Fantastic. At 57 yrs of age I feel like 19 again.
