Maverick,  7 week old bloodhound pup
I was told he was 9 weeks old but took him to the vet today and the growth chart had him between 6-7 weeks. His size and weight  are in that range so thats what we are going with. Could be a runt but more than likley just youmg. Going to train him to track wounded deer and maybe even get him certified for man trailing. The boys are excited to have a puppy finally. Our other dogs are older and about to lose one from old age, she is not doing well. They have never had a puppy to bond with and the have really bonded with this new pup. Our 5 year old played sick tuesday because he wanted to stay home with the dog.

Looks like a lot of energy bound up in that pup. And you're a hero to your son, I'm sure.

Well done!   cooldude

There is something close to perfect in the bond between a little person and a puppy. Well done!

Ever kid in America ought to have a dog.  Sad for folks that have never had a pet.  Bloodhounds are great dogs. I have eight dogs right now, all throw-aways.  Blackie and Yella Fella were in a ditch in Coosa County starving, Chumley was born in a groundhog hole in the woods, got him at 2 weeks old. Yeti (Great Pyranees) was wandering around on a property I manage. Stole Plugs out of a back yard, was not feeding him.  Humphrey, Gus, and Baxter are Blackies puppies, she was pregnant when I found her.  I pick up every dog I see starving along the road side, just can't pass 'em up.

my brother had a great pyraneese named Yeti. I'm a big sucker for dogs. And i agree, Every boy should have a dog. The cat smacked him in the face last night and Alex got upset because he thought the cat hurt the dog. She dosen't even have claws.

My goodness what are the odds of that? Big Yeti weighs in at about 158 pounds and is sweet as she is big.  If anybody ever tried to hurt my wife, they would likely lose an arm however. She was on a property I was managing, and had about 40 coyote snares around the perimeter.  Only one place she could have gotten in, at the trout flapper across a creek.  She was wandering down the middle of the road.  I called the number on her collar and the lady said "We don't want her, just take her to the pound".  Have had her 6 or 7 years now, and she is likely 12 or 13 years old I'd guess.  If they ever make to our house, they have a good life for the remainder of their life.
