Kinda like the tread looks and price. The Kuhmo Ecsta PA31 in a 195/60R16. I'm thinking of going to the slightly smaller size(just under 10mm) from the 205. Handling would be pretty much unchanged but the installation would be less of a pain.

Ive gone thru 8 of them in the last 5 years....
On my leased Dodges!!!!!! They lasted the full amount of the lease.... about 60k Miles.
But i did have to replace one due to a screw in a side wall... $189 for 205 60 19.... ouch
My fault, saw the nail, drove to my usual tire shop without checking the price.... then we pulled the screw...D'oh! what was i gonna do ?? Put on the spare and drive home hoping I might find it cheaper?!??!?
LOL

I have not ridden one, but from what I'm seeing it would be a good D/S tire. Rounded profile, Symmetrical Tread, V Speed Rated, UTQG 500 so it should last a long time. It does have a good looking Tread pattern.

John, I am running a Yokohama 195/60 and I thought the same thing. But it's really still a pain to get it squeezed up in there. Although I do think the handling is a little easier than the 205.

Kuhmo is a premium tire brand, I ran through a couple of sets of Kuhmo run-flats on the Mini Cooper before I changed over to ContiPros...

I know it's close, just figured that extra 10mm clearance would be easier to work with. Maybe not! I found dropping my search from a 205 to a 195 narrowed the field of possibilities down like a funnel. I have plenty of tread left on the current c/t but it's getting some age on it so with a new front tire and needing to service the rear end, I figured now's a good time to replace it. Does it stick pretty good on the turns, and have you had it in the rain?

no idea on that Kumho model, but my 2 Hyundai's car has Kumho's stock from factory and although a good, long wearing tire, lasting 50K or so, I'd read reviews on tirerack or tiresplus or discount tire, etc. who sells that particular model of kumho you want and look at reviews, especially for handling/traction more so than longevity.
The reason I say this is the 2 varying model Kumho tires on my Hyundai cars, both last a VERY long time, but the harder tread compound sucks for traction, especially in winter snow (although you don't ride in snow on cycle of course). WORST traction tires I have EVER owned enough so that both Kumho's (not your model though you want) had to buy snow tires since traction was non-existent in cold winter traction on even 1 cm of snow.

I went ahead and ordered it from Tire Rack....$78.10 + shipping. I read the reports on that particular model and it has good reviews for traction, including wet roads. Fairly high rating on noise as well so guess I'll see how it performs. Should be here Tuesday so maybe I can tear the bike down in preparation for it. Need to get some balancing beads, don't have quite 3 oz. left over unless I can find some locally. Hope that's enough for a c/t, anybody use more?

Does it stick pretty good on the turns, and have you had it in the rain? This is my 4th different car tire. I like it the best. I've had 205/60's and 205/65's and now about 12k on this 195/60 Avid Ascend. It does great in the rain. We don't get too much of it here but when it does rain it pours. We also had some pretty good downpours on the way to Inzane last June. No problems at all. The only slight drawback that I can think of its slightly smaller in diameter, so a little more rpm's at cruising speed. And being slightly shorter it scrapes pegs a little quicker. But it's a very slight difference. I'm going to stick with the 195/60's, I will have to check out the Kumho .

3 oz. is what I use. If you have a Loves Truck Stop near you, you can buy a big bag for the big trucks really cheap. You just have to weigh it out yourself.

No but seems I'm always switching tires an wore out my great Yokohama tire an was looking for a bad to the bone look but it seems the manufactures gave those up maybe because technology was showing they needed to make change. So my studious self figured to go with a General Altramax Rt43 205 60 H which is suppose to have only 5.1" of foot print which should be super and not want to pitch. To counter the high UTQG rating of 700 the rubber is supposed to be impregnated with a special silicone for better road adheasion an has pretty good report. Bought it yesterday from All season tire for 101 cause they have mounted my last 2 tires.

John, I just put the Kumho Ecsta PA31 195/60-16 on my wing yesterday. Was still raining off and on so didn't get out for a test run yet. I got my local tire store to get it from the distributor in Memphis so I could do a "touchy feely" test before buying. Could tell by pictures I liked the tread pattern and rounded shoulders, but was also wanting to check how stiff the sidewall is. It passed the sidewall test for me, not as stiff as GY triple tread, but much stiffer than granny pontiac tires. I paid $26 more (including tax) than tire rack, but was worth it to me to know it was what I desired. Would like to put the same on Valks, but don't want to go down a size.

I put on the Kuhmo Solus tire on about 15K ago. Went with the205/65 series. Like it so far. This tire is narrower than the HyrdroEdge I had on before. Lot easier to work with. I do like the rounder edges, makes it roll into the curves.
Not sure I will get the same mileage out of this tire as I did with the HydroEdge.

I put Kuhmo's on my Corvette several years ago. I don't drive it very oten so I can't say much about them. At the time I purchased them they had good reviews. I always felt kind of guilty because they are made in Korea and I kind of felt unAmerican putting them on a Corvette. At the time the price was right and the reviews were good so I went with them.
