Have done a breakdown of my 98 lady tourer. New wheels, chrome . New brake pads, rotors, ect. Here is the issue. Bike 90 % back together but when I tested the lights Which all came on but when I hit the brake peddle front and rear, i keep popping the circuit breaker to the lights. I do have led lights with modulaters so that might be the problem. I have traced everything I can think of but still popping breaker. Even changed out the battery. Seems like a short somewhere. Any Advice much appreciated. Thanks Rich Knef. 334-857-2996. C 850-855-8986

Hey Rich, Look under the r/side cover. There is a large clear rubber boot with 5-6 connectors in it.Disconnect the green/yellow wire,if the fuse stops popping your problem is aft of that point. If it continues to pop the problem is between that point and the switches.

Thanks Dave, sorry for late responce . Petcock working great but still have short in the system. Have it traced back to the rear of bike. Think it might be the wiring harness that connects at the rear part of the rear fender. Just changed ny rear tire so that was taken apart. Inspected it and all the wires, including The brake and blinker wires but see nothing obvious. Can the harness itself go bad. Anyone have this go on them. Also could led brake light be causing a problem. Breaker pops when I touch any brake. Also popped when i jiggled the wires going back to the gray wire harness. Any Ideas. Thanks.

Check for fraying of the wires right before the 6P connector on either side of the rear fender.

The KISS method dictates that you undo what has been done recently.
Remove your new LED lamps and reinstall the conventional ones, see if the fuse still blows. Proceed forward from there. Wouldn't be the first time a (Chinese made?) replacement part was defective.
Upon re-reading, wiggling the harness blows the breaker = indicates a chafe with power shorting to ground. I would expect to see that at the hole through the fender, which is where you should look more closely, anywhere a chafe could occur to metal (ground).
Without looking at the schematic, I wonder whether that wiggling was done with running lights on only, not brake pedal depressed. You did state that brake application immediately pops the breaker. It would be a poor design to have the brake lights AND running lights on the same breaker; it's blowing results in a complete blackout from the rear. Now you've got me puzzled enough to pull the schematic to check OEM design, dangit.
I'd still start with the original lamps back in place, or no lamps installed at all in the rear. If the modulator is a new install, I'd recheck all of its installation connections, going so far as to remove it completely if all else fails. Still, wiggling the harness = blowing the breaker really jumps out at me as the chafe to find and correct.

I think it was NovaValker who had the problem and posted a tech solution
anyone good with search could find it (it was the bundle of wire in the rear harness if my memory serves correctly)
