A riding friend was in an accident with his '06 F150. He went head on with a '15 Challenger. Both vehicles totaled. The responding LEO was very nice so as Friend was on the gurney, he told the cop to take home his "just purchased" groceries. Otherwise they'd go bad. Much of it was frozen foods. An hour later the cop showed in the hospital. He handed over my buddy's keys. He said he took the keys from the truck and went to his house and put the groceries away before they melted. Not many LEOs would offer that kind of service. My buddy is going to let the Mesa PD know what their officers do.

I also think that was a job well done, actually above and beyond.

That officer needs treated to a great dinner at least.

Funny the things we think of even in the hustle and bustle of an accident.

As they say "No good deed goes unpunished " . Hopefully he won't get in trouble for doing so.

Yeah, my thought too.  Some supervisors or city officials feathers getting ruffled.

I'm with Meathead, I would not thank the PD (or mention anything to anyone) until you are sure you won't get the guy in trouble.  Police Depts are VERY regulatory in nature, and what you can/cannot do on duty is pretty well at the top of the list in the regulations.  Getting him a suspension w/o pay or reprimand for his record or knocked off a promotion list would not be a nice way to pay him back.
