Excessive comfort breeds weakness. PttP

One of the problems with riding your motorcycle to work on a day when the temperature is climbing to eighty degrees (F) is that sitting at your desk you can hear her calling out all through the afternoon.  I may not last the expected cycle today.

I think they probably know you pretty well. I doubt it's "expected" . Get out there and enjoy yourself  Smiley (don't forget your helmet though)

Actually, I've only worked for my current employer for about ten months now.  They're pretty sure they don't know me and at times they're not sure they like me.  They do, however, pay me extravagantly to put out the fires for them here because I am the one best suited to do so.  The fires these days are fairly infrequent and the owning organization apparently doesn't yet trust me enough to have me do something else as well.

Life is good ! I've worked for my current employer for 15 years. I'm pretty sure they know me. I'm also pretty sure they don't like me .  Grin But fortunately I am pretty good at making them money so they tolerate me.  Smiley

Carl, what is it that you do?

I do so many things but I get paid for being a z/OS systems programmer.  That is to say that I maintain the operating systems environment on large IBM mainframe computers.  I am currently working for Fidelity National Information Services as a contractor to the company by which I was employed for the past fifteen years and who now provides me with a monthly retirement check.

God has been very good to me.  I would like to tell you how hard I worked and planned but much if not all that is fortunate has come to me without my planning or unreasonably hard work, both in regard to skills and in regard to situations.

It is a good gig.

Batten down the hatches out there, Willow, blizzard heading your way from the Rockies with snow, wind, cold, sloppy roads, and non-motorcycle friendly conditions.  The usual "Welcome to Spring" from mother nature in March.

Oh!  I don't like that.  We've already been teased by several 70's and low 80's days.  I'm not sure my system can handle a reversion at this point.   Shocked

Denver's at a standstill; it's all heading East and I don't believe that there are enough trees across Kansas to stop it.  Flatlanders, take heed, take shelter and watch the skies for funnels.                 Warm before the storm and all that rot.
Still... Go Jayhawks!  Good chance they'll be in the finals and looking strong down the bench.

I work for less than folks are wanting to flip burgers and could make almost as much from SS.  On days I ride, my bike is parked about twenty feet from me and on slow days(which there are several during spring and fall) it is almost unbearable to sit and look out the window.  I know your pain.

Interesting ride home tonight.

This morning the toll taker on the turnpike told me to have a nice trip.  I told her I was on my way to work.  She then asked whether I had a nice ride.  I told her that yes I did and it's one of the reasons I work sixty miles from home.

Today the weather prognosticators presented us with high wind warnings and a storm expected to hit after nightfall today.  When I exited the office building at the end of the work day the wind was blowing so strongly that it was a struggle just to walk down the sidewalk and cross the road.  It was like it was in Kansas or something.  The skies looked ugly in spots.  Rolling into Lawrence I felt a few drops of water hit my face and soon we were in a pretty regular rain shower, large drops, but it only lasted for a mile or two.  It tried again off and on over the next few miles but never got worked up into a serious drenching.  It was warm, seventy-seven (F), so it wasn't terribly uncomfortable.

For quite some distance I was running straight into the wind and it was strong.  At one point I was running between seventy-five and eighty indicated.  I must have turned my head just wrong because the wind slammed my visor shut.  That hasn't happened in a long, long time.  I actually replaced the visor the last time that happened as I was convinced the stops on the visor were worn down.

I got home and got the Valkyrie put into the garage just ahead of a heavy shower that totally soaked the driveway.

I sat down for just a bit and when I rose up to go to dinner I was surprised to feel pain between my shoulders.  I'm usually good for five hundred or more miles in a day and work was only a sixty mile ride away.  I was worn out this evening.

Some days it's good to ride.  Some days it's good to get home.  Some days it's both.   cooldude

And some days having a good wind shield is, well (as Martha Stewart used to say) a good thing
