Shame that your ignorance precludes you from knowing that you can't see the backside of Mt Rushmore if standing at the border between the USA and Canada.

Britman, you are definitely in need of some humor in your life. My comment was in no way anti-anything. Lighten up.

Actually I thought it was funny and I gave eleven and a half years specifically serving my country.  I hope my patriotism is not in question.   Wink

Looks like you've got almost triple my patriotism  Embarrassed only 4 years for me
But I'm told 4 Navy years is almost equal to 11 and a half Marine years.  2funny

I suppose the relationship of Navy time to U.S. Marine Corps time would depend entirely upon what one is measuring.   Wink

I was born on an Air Force base with an Air Force Captain for a dad... Does that count for anything?  Cool

Personally I don't think serving in the military makes one more patriotic. You either LOVE this country or you don't. And patriotism is something that is pretty subjective. I think you could be counted as a patriotic military brat.  2funny

I was there in '66 (I think) Actually my Dad was stationed there. We lived off base in "San Antone" As I remember it was a BIG base. But everything seems big when you are 8.  Smiley

My dad was there from... 69 or 70 'till 73ish... I was born there in '71... Have very few memories of the place to be honest. We moved from there to Upper Heyford in the UK outside Woodstock until I was 6, then lived in The Republic ever since...

I spent 5 months at Lackland going to K9 handlers school while in the Army.  Was there fir the Bicentennial celebration in 1976, and was able to attend Willie's little party he threw.  The AF definitely knows how to live, best duty of my enlistment.

My father set up the dog school at Fort Gordon in the late 60's. He made 2 or 3 extended trips to the camp.

Interesting pics of San Antonio.  Here's one, not so interesting, of a certain slick sleeved private taken at Ft. Sam Houston in 1952.  I was going through Xray school.  I spent some time at Brooks Army Hospital, fumbling my way as a trainee Xray tech

I'm stunned to see that the movie "North by Northwest" actually lied about that geology, thanks for showing me the real lay of the land!
