Once I saw for sale about a year ago someone selling new, very well done aftermarket saddlebag chrome scuff plates or called scuff covers for the 1500. Anyone have any leads on these?

They are made of "unobtainium".

The problem is, once applied, they are essentially impossible to take off, without damaging them.  I had a NOS set a few years back.  Thought I might need them, and then managed to buy saddle bags with them already on.  Sold them then, for I think $400.

You can get them here, but very expensive.

http://www.valkyrieparts.de/epages/63631381.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63631381/Products/15.71

Works out to be $340.63 US Dollars plus shipping.

FYI they are used, but look good.  I have bought a few parts from them and always satisfied with them.

I have them on both bikes first set I bought 3 years ago on eBay I think I paid 200, the Last one I came across in original packaging this last August for $52 buy it now free shipping I couldn't believe it, it's on the interstate now. Needless to say I ve seen them go for over 400+, but they're very rare. Good lunch hunting

I have them on my bikes . Recently had my saddlebags painted after getting hit in a parking lot . This bike ( blue / white )  will always be solo so I'm thinking I don't need the scuff guards... I'll trade them for ( 2 ) Front Avon Cobra's shipped to my door.... AVON ONLY  ...No Dunflops...No Stinko ,etc , etc.... If you bite I'll get you so good detailed pic's of the OEM Saddlebag Scuff Guards.

I'm curious how you removed them without damage to them or bags?  Dental floss/fishing line ?

I wasn't worried about the paint they was getting repainted ... Lots of WD 40 and time is how I removed them.
