Don't know about the rest of you, but my big old manual grease gun is a messy thing to store. A few days ago at the library, while my wife is digging around to find something to read I was paging through the Family Handyman magazine. I came across something I thought was kinda unique and decided to make one like it. Takes about 12" of 3" pvc, about the same length of 1 1/2" pvc, an adapter as seen in the picture, and a cap on the end of the 1 1/2" tube. I glued the tubing together but left the cap on the bottom so you can slip it off for cleaning. Cut a slot in the large section about 1 1/2" wide for the handle, then drill a hole in the back to mount it. My big tool box has holes there for a handle I didn't mount and the new holder fits there just fine. Finally have the drippy, greasy mess off the shelf and out of the way. Thinking about making one using just the top 3" section to set my air driven grease gun in. Since it has a solid nozzle afixed to it I won't need the bottom section for the flex hose.

That's pretty slick. We could use a few of them at work. They all just get tossed into a bin at the bottom of a cabinet...

Would this help with them always being empty?

In that case I'll never take a wide angle shot of the rest of the garage.  Roll Eyes Even a precocious little granddaughter stood at the steps one day, looked around with disgust, and loudly proclaimed "grandpa, you REALLY need to clean up this mess."  I told her to go tell her grandmother, at which point she advised me she didn't see but 2-3 things of hers in "all this mess."

Baldo, probably not. Kinda like the last person to empty an ice cube tray back in the day. They never saw the need to refill it with water....or bothered to.

I too also had problems with the hand grease gun, so I love your solution. But I did find another solution which also brought up a question. I was having problem with the grease leaking out of the gun in storage. I wondered if the grease will do this in storage whatever you hare putting the grease in will do the same thing. Seems to me grease should stay put. So I searched greases and changed to Belray grease including putting it in the grease gun and have not had a problem since.

Am I wrong or shouldn't the grease not melt and stay where you put it? No wonder the splines are always dry with some greases.

I agree Robert, that's why my gun and the old tee shirt it was wrapped in got to be an oily mess. The cap on the bottom of the holder will slip off so I can clean it out if necessary. It got a greasy mess out of my storage cabinet which I'm pleased with, next I want to make a holder for the air driven gun. I won't need the bottom section for that.

As for getting a patent....not sure I'd do it since I copied it from a picture I saw in a national magazine. But, if it isn't patented by the person that posted that picture......  Roll Eyes

Really great idea. I've always hung mine on a nail with the hose pointed up and when the weather gets hot a small amount of drippin's leaks out onto the floor. Thanks for posting this.

Jimmy, temporary standstill on the 1200. Life kinda gets in the way at times which in turn knocks a hole in the wallet....among other things. At the moment I'm looking at different ideas for the taillight/license plate setup. Will probably weld something in place on the rear fender to hold whatever I decide on, so when I remove it for painting is when I'll do the welding. Will need to tack some wire bundle clips underneath at the same time. Once done, I can paint the fender to match the tank and front fender. At the moment, I work on it when the spirit moves me. The spirit has been on vacation in recent weeks.  Wink
