To every season......turn, turn, turn
I finally have to admit that the time has come, yes I need to get rid of at least one of my Valkyries. My health and strength are not getting better, but I'm not giving up yet. I'm just going to go about riding on a lighter motorcycle. My wife has had a few serious (MS) episodes herself.
Pam loads our toy hauler because she is better physically equipped to get the bikes in our RV. However loading a Valkyrie and a 1700 Roadstar takes up a lot of width even in an eight foot wide trailer (even staggered).
We needed to asses our needs, wants and our financial situation, and test rode several motorcycles at Daytona Bike Week. After long deliberation, we have decided to purchase two new 2016 Indian Scouts. Yes, by the end of this month I will have a pearl white Scout for Pam and a black Scout for me.
We both found the Scouts to be so much easier to handle at low speeds, as well as just being a lot of fun to ride. They can not ever replace Honda's hot rod monster cruiser, but I will still have at least one in my garage. I may further thin out my motorcycle collection and power tools to get even more room in my workshop
This means that we can continue to ride and enjoy the company of other riders for a lot longer. We also now both are board members of ABATE of MI and are involved in the MRF, AMA, Confederation of Clubs and a few more commercial motorcycle related activities. Pam is also a MSF instructor and we also both teach "Motorcycle Awareness" classes.
I and my wife wouldn't have pictured ourselves in our positions even two years back. Life changes faster than we could have imagained.

I agree. I looked long and hard at those scouts last summer after I felt their poor paint job had been dealt with by Polaris. They felt very much like the 97 Honda Magna I had which I liked. And of course you can customize them to your liking. Hope you get to enjoy many fun years with the Scouts.

Good choices and a lot less weight. I did the same, the Vstrom was 300 pounds less weight and let me ride a little longer.
The lighter bike brought the fun back into it but eventually, for me, the decision was made to stop riding. However, you are heavily involved in the motorcycle rights activities so you'll be riding longer.
Believe me, tho, you will know when to quit.

Saw one at the Indian line up when I stopped at a place that was supposed to have the helmet I was looking for...now I wish I had taken a picture...the dude had a Easy Riders worthy back pack with a 4ft long skate board tied to it
...it was white
Tough decisions but great choice!

Old testament . Ecclesiastes 3:3 , "To everything there is a season, a time to every purpose under heaven." One of my favorites. The byrds made this into a song in 1965 . A very good one.

Glad youre making solid decisions. Riding is fun and the Indians are a top notch product. I work with a guy who is totally Harley centric. He has a good one and has ridden it hard. He test rode an Indian, loves it big time. Rode a new Glide something or other and couldn't be persuaded to trade.

2 wheels or 3, still in the wind regardless.
I also hear those new Honda 700's are easy to flick around as well and get over 60 mpg which is great gas mileage only designed in the past for much smaller scooters.

You right on, Momz!!! You got to do what you are comfy with. I have a Scout, and enjoy riding it, as much as the other few bikes in the stable. Yo Bride gonna pilot a Scout 60--(white); is yours a 60 too? Neat bikes; Keep riding as long as you can! You'll love dat Scout!
