I was watching the news this morning and couldn't believe what I heard / saw. Woman getting pregnant, forming a web page soliciting funds from the general public to pay for them via the internet to be off work, or not working while pregnant. And people donate! Why should the general public support someones pregnancy? Don't get this at all.

Ron White again. What is it he says ?  Heck, we're all now paying for some pregnancies and we didn't have any of the fun.

Saw one the other day where someone wanted to buy a house, couldn't afford it and asked for donations.  Another one was a guy who wanted some very expensive hearing aids that he wanted a crowd source to pay for.  It's a bad trend.

The country holds a large number of folks with an entitlement mentality or a "a little bit from each of a lot of people will make no difference to them but will help me out a lot" mindset.

We have the option of not contributing to a fund raising campaign.  We don't have the same option when the funds are raised through government funds.   Angry

Agreed.  cooldude

IMHO, I would much prefer that folks ask (beg) for help in getting things they can't afford, rather than the benevolent G deciding all poor people are entitled to it, and forcing us working taxpayers to foot the bill.  One is voluntary, the other enforced with a bayonet (or prison, garnishment, or attachment of your home).

I have a friend that set up one of these Funding pages.
He weighed nearly 400lb and got diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis, shortly after he found out he also had a brain tumor which was successfully removed.
The result of him being ill made him lose all his weight, three years ago he weighed 126lb and nearly departed this world.
He's still with us, thankfully, but his main issue was the excess skin he is carrying, which is something he's embarrassed about and gets very depressed about.

Our British Health service refuse to sort his skin out because of cost. He's registered disabled and cannot afford to "Go Private" so he set up a crowd funding page.

After 5 months, he has raised a total of,,,,,,,,, nothing, zilch, nada.

Maybe if he was a dog with a boil on it's ass he would have been more successful.

People like the pregnant woman make me sick, lazy bitch.

Maybe I'm not understanding something but I applaud this person.

Why you ask, because the government has been doing this for years financing every underage unmarried pregnant girl. From conception to birth and beyond kids blacks whites all know it and they don't care about getting pregnant. So where is the concern about this?

This girl is at least soliciting donations not looking to the government. Which means we don't HAVE to pay. People who want to donate regardless of how you feel about it are footing the bill.

I dont know all the facts here but on the surface she is industrious, motivated, looking to care for the child. I dont know if she is married or had insemination or what the story is. But I would much rather have this than the ones that sit and suck the gov dry.

Why is this any different than girls selling their virginity on ebay or a website? The world today morally is in big trouble so where do you draw the line at moral outrage?

OH and by the way if you look at California they just enacted a law that allows much more maternity time off while the company pays. So its mandated government care paid for by business and the difference is? Who got outraged over this?

I read through the story at the link your provided.  I found no mention anywhere of Ebay.  I do agree with you, Robert, that we are in serious trouble with our morality culturally but if some of us are going to ride above that we need to be careful of our knee jerk comments and liabelous references.

I did learn from the story that I received a tremendous bargain, twice.  I can't afford another virgin (not that I'm in the market).

For accuracy I said "on ebay or a website?"

So the article would not have Ebay mentioned, I figured if someone is really interested in buying this they could do the leg work. But what was it, Meathead can only go on Ebay? Didn't include a listing number for you guys to find as it was not a recent auction.

I tend to disbelieve one of the links,  Sixteen year old from New York?  That's illegal in this country.

The other one does say she did it from Brazil on Ebay.  The link you originally provided didn't mention Ebay but did mention several other forums.

As to accuracy, If I mentioned crimes that were committed by John Anderson or others and it turns out John Anderson committed none of those crimes I would be ethically, legally and morally wrong.  If we're going to point the finger we do need to hold ourselves to a higher standard.

If you actually knew of the other article before posting I apologize for assuming you generalized and jumped to a conclusion.

A buck two ninety eight is an old humorous expression for........ cheap.

As the bidding for my virginity ended, I would discover that two elderly blind ladies had run the price up that high.  At least I'd hope it was ladies.
