This video shows a hailstorm that just missed Daniel Meyer's suburban location - a stroke of luck.

Yup, been pretty crazy around here lately... That hail storm was about 10 miles north of my house, but we just got a little light rain.
There was an EF4 tornado that wiped out several hundred houses in my town December 26th, it was 2-3 miles from my house but we didn't even get any rain out of that one.

Not sure if my house is blessed, or if the fates are just saving us for The Big One...

I headed out to the top of the road yesterday to cut
some low hanging branches off the hack-berry tree
with my pole saw... BOOM! ... I could tell from where
the clouds were that the storm wasn't in the direction it
needed to be for it to nail me, but still... I can go out
there another time and hold a pole up in the air  Wink ...

This is what the storm did just down the road in
Anderson:

We don't get too much of these awful storms or tornadoes... I think
it is because we live in a sweet-spot right at the end of the
blue ridge, but whatever... these storms can happen anywhere...

The storms are flat murdering us this year...with the exception of the Valk, everything we own with a deed or a title has been seriously damaged.

Dropped "Da'Altima" aka "The wife's ride" aka "Dimples" off at the body shop this morning. Initial estimate is in excess of $8000 damage and 30 days in the shop. There are no rental cars left in the city (we got one because we asked for it over a week ago). Rental agent told me they are 30,000 cars short of meeting the current demand.

Our car is damaged from the March 22 storm that damaged our Suburban Blah house and all our cars (as opposed to the March 18th storm that got Cupola Art and the Old Vic, or the April 11th storm that stomped Plano and Wylie).

Anyway, the body shop's (a major chain) lot looked like a war zone...full of hail damaged cars. I looked at a "tow in" while I was waiting on the rental...this was an SUV towed in from hail damage from the April 11th storm. Seriously bashed up just from hail...no collision...

All the windows and sunroof smashed...and the interior is covered in splattered blood. So much so that in the rain bloody water was dripping out the doors and onto the parking lot.

Large hail is a dangerous thing.

So yeah...Da'Altima is a mess...but we're still breathing.

Y'all be careful out there folks.
