I pulled the trigger. Yep,...I did it.
I bought two new Indian Scout 60s. And I am to sell one of my Valkyries (at least one) and my wife's RoadStar Silverado. It's not that we need to sell them to pay for those new bikes (they're paid in full), but I am "out of room" and the cost to insure all my motorcycles is absolutely staggering (in this State at least).

A Back one for me (of course)

I really hope that I learn to love the Scout Undecided as much as I love my Valks. Cry

Pam crashed HARD in October 2013, but she is just fine now (but her family blames me for her crash,....however I was 95 miles away).

Pam has MS and is very weak after an episode, but she does not quit. However it does effect her strength.
Her Road Star is very HEAVY, and the Scouts seem so light and nimble. That is our prime motovation.

Looking forward to reading your long term review of the Scout.

The best way to truly reveiw a motorcycle is to ride one yourself.
I encourage everyone to take a DEMO ride on any motorcycle that they are considering.

As we age, and our situations change, we may need to rethink our needs and abilities. I've been told that a three-wheeled motorcycle might be an alternative. But I do not like Trikes. Yet there are those that feel they are a perfect solution. In fact my two closest riding buddies have either a real Valkyrie trike or a Voyager on his Valk. Both are "disabled" riders, with one being in his eighties.

Pam and I are not ready to no longer "lean through the curves" but we know that lighter and more nimbler bikes will keep us riding a lot longer.

Contact a Polaris retailer (Victory or Indian) about any upcoming "Demo Days". You will be surprised!!!

P.S. I still will keep at least one Valk

Curios why went with two scout 60s and not maybe one of each, with the other being a scout.  That lure of 100 hp in a 540 lbs bike would overwhelm me, but that is me.  You are right these things are light and nimble ( been on one )  and hope they keep you folks riding for many years to come.  And indeed give us a review update from time to time. Am really curious how that short stroke rear shocks work.

We demo rode both Scouts and several Octanes back to back in Daytona. There was very little difference in performance between the Scouts, and yes the Octane was faster but not terribly so.
However a $2000.00 difference between the two can sure sway your choice. And I really like the "blacked out" look of the 60s.

All three of my Valks have 11.5" shocks now as I have a 28" inseam. Yeah, they could ride a bit better, but the Scout is no worse than my Valks.
Try riding any HD Sportster and then ride a Scout. The Indian wins hands down.

Motorcycles are a personal thing, and we all have our wants and especially our needs. I still will keep at least one Valk (it suits my wants).

Am thinking the Octane has 104hp, Scout has 78hp and the Scout 60...?
Correct me if I am wrong....just read it this weekend while looking at both the standard Scout and the Octane at Leesburg Bike Fest. The Octane and Scout were side by side.
Like the styling of the Scout a bit better than the Octane.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear of the insurance costs.  I would think it would be reasonable but you state otherwise  ???

I really loved the idea of the Scout, if only they had put on a fuel tank with a "reasonable" range (for my needs, anyway).  The Scout is wonderful compact, it is nice that a company made a good performing bike that isn't as large as a house.

OK,..your wrong,...well misinformed.
The Octane is rated at 104 Hp
The Scout is rated at 100 HP
The Scout 60 rated at 78 HP
