When it's 12:38 AM and I'm still working after starting long ago that is a slap in the face to be sure. When I spent the morning at the Doctors's office dealing with the Obama care crap and knowing I'll have to cough up money for them even after the insurance I buy covers a little that's even more of a slap in the face.

15 Apr this year I had a trouble call at WIC, ckt down, no communications. It seems that every 15 Apr +- a day or two I have to work at a "other peoples money" trough.  A nice minivan (2-4 yo old MAX) wheels in like Bo Duke was driving, and a decent looking young lady pops out and speed walks into the WIC center. A couple min later she storms out, ON HER NEWER (large screen) smart phone MF'ing the world and WIC in general loudly. She stated into her SMART PHONE, while going to her newer mini van, "How am I supposed to get formula for the weekend." (About 1/2 the words are edited because they wouldnt pass.) Jumps into her van and burns a gallon of fuel getting out of the parking lot. I am so lucky she didnt cuss me directly because the answer I already had in my head was, "You could try a job, or sell the phone, if those dont work they there is always stripping or prostitution."

I've been behind folks in wally wurld that had a cart 3/4 full of meat and whipped out the yellow e b t card to pay. Been at the Murphy fueling my cage or my Valkyrie and watched people with a newer or new pickup and with a new or newer bass boat fill up the pickup and the bass boat with the yellow e b t card. When I was still in Illinois with the first wife in the 70s I saw similar things happening then. When I lost my job then I kept thrashing and found another job-and another. I live in a huge welfare area, its true alright, there is no reason for her not to tell the truth, the government promotes this, these people are voters. They advertise down here how to utilize welfare, how to sign up, these people vote for a living! We should probably be careful how we assess the value of people based upon what we've chosen.  WE have chosen goals that lead us to live good middle class or better lifestyles and we do have standards that call for us to work at earning what we receive.  If our goals were simply to have enough food on the table and a roof over our heads then perhaps we would ahve chosen the route this young woman has taken.  She did, as pointed out, learn it from her parents.

The real problem is us.  We, as a culture, decided that we wouldn't let anyone starve.  We decided that we as a people, not so much as individuals, would provide the solution to the poverty issue.  Then we started moving that bar of what poverty meant.

A very wise man once said, and it was borrowed by the leading character in the Bronson pilot, "If you don't work, you don't eat."  Perhaps that's what we should teach and practice.  I don't want to let anyone starve to death while I can stop it, but the solution has gotten way out of hand.  We built the road and we resent those who have values that draw them to intentionally travel on it.  Maybe we built the wrong road.

As to they vote for a living I firmly believe that the voting right should belong strictly to those who are contributing, however you deem that to be.  I'm just not so sure how we would effectively make it work that way.

I'm glad I didn't choose the road that the young welfare woman chose.

It wasn't to bash you meathead, I just wish I too could be oblivious to these milkers. Must have taken years of training yourself. It's really a big slap in the face when you and I go to work every day to provide for our families and the government takes a percentage and just gives it to these lazy bastards. I'm all for helping the ones who really need it.  But I'm afraid the ones who don't need it and are capable of working far outnumber the ones who really need the help.

I wish I was oblivious also. I see it everyday, I work in a grocery store as a lowly meatcutter. All I said was it seemed like this incident on the radio was a setup. It has been my experience that lazy people don't admit to being lazy. But hey it could very well have happened, I don't know. After all I live under a rock in Nirvana with unicorns and butterflies.

I agree with Meathead. You can catch the announcer following a script of his questioning if you listen carefully - her responses didn't give rise to following questions. Also, aside from an affected accent, the caller seemed a bit too literate and completely skipped over AFDC, SSI, Medicare, and a host of more well known honey holes these people thrive on.

Staged or not? Not really an important point. They did an interview and surely there was some coordination before hand about the interview.

What's important is if it's all true or not. And anyone who works (or has a relative who works) in the insurance-medical-Medicaid field can tell you, HELL YES it's all true.

I'm constantly amazed as I witness the things my "relative" does in her home office with the "don't need to work" Medicaid clientele she manages. They know full well how to get the most they can for free. One "totally free to her medical insurance" obama supporter has figured out how to obtain free hotel rooms for a week at a time and has stayed 4 weeks just this year at a local hotel. She has chosen NOT to use local doctors but TO use doctors 80 miles away from her home town and use the doctors where all her family lives.

So she makes three different doctors appointments for Monday Wednesday and Friday, and BOOM she can't possibly drive all those miles (she's just too weak) so free motel from Sunday to Thursday and of course a meal voucher is included each day while away from home. Even funnier is to read her Facebook page and see how she invites the family over to the hotel for overnight visits and pool parties.....Did I mention this obama supporters past 2 prison stays???????
