I had an interstate years ago that had OEM seat and I never had any problems, I just got another interstate but it has a Corbin set seems nice and built very good but I've never had a Corbin , which seat would be more comfortable on the long haul?

I can't be any help, however I like the stock seats and the Russell that I had on my two Interstates. Currently, I have the stock two piece on my 1500 and the Corbin on my 1800 and the Corbin is better but it is a different bike.  When it comes to seats I feel we are so different in the tail that you will have to fill up and run the tank out and see for yourself.

IMHO, I'd keep  the stock seat. I've had two different bikes (one standard and one Interstate) Both came with Corbin seats. Both Corbins (To me) were very hard on my posterior. I went to Inzane 14 in Ashville from Detroit. I was very close to a bedsore type of irritation on my "can"! I actually purchased an Ultimate seat set at Inzane 14 to get me back home! My second seat was on my Interstate trike. That one I rode from Boise Id to Detroit Mi. Half way home, I swapped the Corbin for the stock seat that was included in the purchase. Please don't take my personal findings as a condemnation of their product. These seats were easily 10 years old and I understand that time takes it's toll on leather and the foam inside the seat. Some people want-need a more firm seat, it's just not my cup of tea. On the other hand, I'm very satisfied with my Ultimate seat. Again, I'm not trying to "bad mouth" the Corbin seat. These are just my observations.

I've had my Corbin on my IS for I believe 12 or 13 years. I still like the way it fits me and have ridden 2 up on many long trips - especially over the past 8 years or so without too much discomfort .... although I've never really tried any others. The time has come though ... my aging butt is definitely looking for more comfort. While the Corbin still is the perfect fit with respect to shape and position, it is now just too darn hard ... for both me and the co-pilot. I beleive an Ultimate is in the cards.....hope to try one on in Morgantown in June (I believe they will be there).

You're just going to have to try your new (to you) Corbin out and see for yourself.

My first interstate came with a gorgeous tooled, studded, conchoed, leather Corbin.  I wanted to love it.  I loved looking at it.  But I could not love sitting on it (and I really tried).  It was as hard as a wood bench, never got any softer, and it had no pocket (especially at the back) and I slid all over it.

It was as new and I had the original receipt in the neighborhood of $1200.  Best I could get for it was less than $400 (since the dummy who ordered it had all the roll seams done in light blue).

There are Corbin lovers and haters.  If you don't like it, try posting up a swap for a set of Ultimates or Mustangs (both have individual front and back seats).  The stock Interstate seat (like the Corbin) is a dual tour (one seat front and back), and is a pretty nice seat.  A used one in good shape should be cheaper than any used Ultimate or Mustang.

If your Corbin came with a trunk rest, you will need a stock trunk rest to replace it, or keep it to use with whatever you end up with.

I've put a bit over 82000 miles on my I/S since I've gotten her. On the stock seat with the additions of a sheep skin and a back rest. Last year-was 70 at the time-turned a 600+ mile day and rode again the next day and the day after and the day after-STILL have the stock seat on her. Seems to be wurkin fer me!  cooldude I've sat my brothers Ultimate and just sitting seems like the boys are crowded. RIDE SAFE.

Hi
Seats can be a very personalized purchase. We are all different sizes. Seat and highway pegs are the easiest to modify on a bike for comfort. I've found from my research if you weigh more than 260lbs the type of seat is real important. I've owned a different Corbin on each of the 3 Valkyrie's and one on my GL1800 Goldwing. I'm 270lbs and can't ride more than 300 miles on a Corbin without getting sore. I did find after about a 1000 miles I like them for shorter rides. I've sold them all but the heated one for my Wing and use it only during the Winter. I run a Diamond Custom in the Summer on the Wing.
I really like the Ultimate for the Valkyrie Interstate but my wife does not like her seat on them. Something about the 1" pop up edge on the back of the seat. Would love to try a Russuell but I've always thought they were overpriced. Just bought a new Custom made 2 piece Hartco seat for my Valkyrie Interstate with driver backrest & pouch. Made to fit my wife and I. It works great for around $650. Same guy owns Diamond Custom and Hartco. He uses his own molds so no pan is needed. He will sell a slip on cover for the passenger backrest but doesn't make them anymore. Russuell will re-cover and slightly modify a stock passenger backrest. Wife wants it to sit straight not lean back and be a little taller.  We are going to get them to modify one for us soon.

I have always had the ultimate on my IS so can't compare, but for me if I ride 3 or 4 times a week I seem to do better than if I haven't rode much. Also, I use an airhawk air cussion which I am used to. When riding long distance I have found padded underwear "made for riding" really help me and can make all the difference. For one thing the underwear wick sweat, if you sweat in the seat, there is no way you are comfortable no matter which seat you have.

All have Corbins and love them. For long trips I use an Alaskan Leather pad for cooling and cushion.

I have yet to fimd a set that doesn't hurt my ass after a couple hundred miles or a few hours. I might break down and sell my ultimate to help fund a Russell  Cheesy

I started to make a joke about your ass but then thought better of it.   After all, it's your ass and I surely am not a judge of such issues but, it is your problem, deal with it.   Wink

I may get this pulled as it is on the wrong place, but if someone wants an original one piece for a 99 interstate, I plan on bringing my seat off Bruenhilde since I have a Mustang on her.  It will be inexpensive and first offer at Morgantown will be the owner.. It is in pretty good shape and has a backrest with pouch.  If no one wants it,  I understand.

Same here but 1/2 the mileage on my I/S and 300-400 mile trips, but same stock I/S seat with sheepskin and backrest works fine for me.

Just by looking at the Russell, it appears firmer with less cushion/padding.

Amen on the Russell.  Have them on both my std and IS.  After about 200 miles I was darn near crippled.  Put the Russell on the night before a long ride.  Put 700 miles on the next day, and could have gone for more.
