I'm considering a bike trip to Tennessee later in the summer. Is there anyone out there that could recommend where to stay and ride?

Pretty much anywhere in Eastern Tenn. is amazing. You will find yourself crossing over into NC as well.
Later in the summer you will want to gravitate to the higher elevations!!

I'm considering a bike trip to Tennessee later in the summer. Is there anyone out there that could recommend where to stay and ride?

1. Tail of the Dragon (Tennessee)

An 11-mile stretch of US Route 129, the Dragon (also known as Deal’s Gap) is widely considered to be one of the best motorcycle roads in America. Resembling a dragon’s tail, Deal’s Gap is said to contain over 300 curves, the sharpest of which has been given nicknames such as Gravity Cavity and Copperhead Corner. The challenging two-lane blacktop-highway stretch brings riders through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Originally 55mph, the speed limit was reduced to 35 in 2005.

A shrine dubbed the Tree of Shame has motorcycle parts attached to it by those who weren’t able to tame the dragon.

2. Cherohala Skyway (Tennessee and North Carolina)

Cherohala Skyway, also known as Overhill Skyway, is a National Scenic Byway that stretches 43 miles from Tellico Plains to Robinville. The road runs through both the Cherokee National Forest and the Nantahala National Forest (the road’s name is a portmanteau of Cherokee and Nantahala). It reaches elevations of over 5,400 feet, and with many sweeping curves and very little traffic at night, the road can be especially dangerous in the winter. The byway provides access to several viewpoints, recreational areas, and vistas.

10. Natchez Trace Parkway (Tennessee)

The Natchez Trace Parkway offers riders 444 miles of scenery and 10,000 years of North American history. The Natchez Trace footpath was originally traversed by Native Americans hunting American bison. The two-lane parkway, which prohibits commercial traffic, has a speed limit of 50mph, and the journey typically spans two days but can be covered in one. Throughout the ride on the parkway, riders zoom past ghost towns, Spanish moss hanging from trees, and Civil War battlegrounds.

I also liked staying in Maggie Valley, decent BBQ lots of motels

The Wheels thru Time motorcycle museum is there, great place to spend a rainy day

Seems I had to ride thru Cherokee at least once a day to get in all the riding but it was all good from 28 with its easy curves to warm you up before getting to the dragon, cherahola, the foothills parkway and BRP  up north a bit is 441 also fun and dont forget 16 in Wva into Va near Tazwell

Just watch for vehicles crossing over the double yellow and trucks that will go and block all the lanes

Someday DOT has to ban trucks from that 128  road

Although many of the previous post are great suggestions it really depends on how long you plan on staying. If it's more than a couple days I would suggest the old fashion way to plan a trip. Get a paper map and a compass and draw circles say the diameter of 150 miles and ride the roads in that circle. Pick a place to stay and enjoy the local flavor of that area.

I mean the more noteable roads are great but there is truely so many great roads that you would find some real gems with literally no traffic on them.

Along with Eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina, North Georgia has great roads and scenery.

I assume you meant 129, already done it!
Tn. took their own sweet time about it. Jus' went into effect last year.
Nc. banned 'em on their side from 129 (& 28 all the way to 143) quite awhile ago.
You still gotta watch for "herds" of dump trucks but....
it's posted everywhere,
nothing over 30 feet, combination or straight, is allowed anywhere near Deals Gap now cooldude

Have ridden all those roads many times. I usually stay in Helen and any road within 100 miles is a good one.
