Today I was riding through Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island with my new-to-me Valk, and lo and behold, what do I see? Another Valkyrie! I pulled over and snapped some pics of the awesome machine. Lots of great farkles (look at that horn! Where do I get one of THOSE?) and so much to look at... check out those cruiser boards... and then... I saw the hunk of wood. A hunk of wood. Painted black. Just sitting up there, near the front triple tree, for some completely mystifying reason. A cover for something? A prop? A random object to confuse passerby? Does anyone have any clue why that would be a feature on a Valk?

No clue about the wood plank. But, that Rivco Horn is worth every penny. It looks great and puts out a glorious sound. Gets folks attention! One caveat though, be sure to use good mounts on that horn if you get one, I know two folks who used the stock mounting bracket for the Rivco horn and it broke, I assume due to the additional weight and induced vibration.

I almost wonder if the chunk of wood is a kickstand pad...easy to grab, and toss down.

Maybe someone should tell him you can lock the handlebars with your key.

Easy to bend the the lock pin on it's own. I'd bet the the block is put in place before locking and it is difficult to get it out until you unlock the steering.

I lock my forks so rarely that I've almost fallen forgetting to unlock, but if I forgot the fork lock, I'd forget the black wood piece too.
Maybe an evil wife doesn't like the bike (or the husband). Got wood?
It's a mystery.

Perhaps he has a kickstand - bike height relationship that would cause the bike to fall over if the front wheel isn't turned entirely to the right. He then would be trying to be sure someone doesn't mess with the parked bike and cause it to fall.
Yeah, I know. Fork lock. Perhaps it's broken or he just doesn't like to use the fork lock.

He should have gotten either the stick on bullet holes or the 4X4 emblems, then he'd be really cool.
