Ride With Norman Reedus debuts at 9 p.m. today on AMC following a new episode of the wildly bizarre, but fascinating new series Preacher. If you haven’t checked that out, please do.
Reedus will take viewers along for six episodes as he “explores local biker culture and celebrates the best and brightest collectors, mechanics and craftsmen around the country.”
This includes trips to custom bike shops, tattoo parlors, bike warehouses and a roadside smokehouse.
On tonight’s premiere, “California: Pacific Coast Highway,” Reedus and his friend, Imogen Lehtonen, head up the highway to Santa Cruz to check out some beach dune buggies, ride what is being billed as “the bike of the future,” visit with master bike builder Roland Sands (who builds one-of-akind motorcycles), and drop in on a podcast.
Who is Imogen Lehtonen? I had to look her up. She’s a London-born, New Zealand-raised, California-based member of the family that founded the “legendary” jewelry company Great Frog London.
I know. I’ve never heard of Great Frog London either. But rockers Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Metallica, Slash and Aerosmith evidently love Great Frog London pieces. And so does Reedus.
Lehtonen is a cycle enthusiast as well as a silversmith and jewelry designer/model.
Each hourlong episode of Ride With Norman Reedus will feature Reedus with a cycling companion. In addition to Lehtonen, guests will include Peter Fonda, famous for his role as Wyatt (“Captain America”) in 1969’s biker road trip film Easy Rider; filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, who gave us the Spy Kids trilogy; and Balthazar Getty (Brothers & Sisters).
After California, the series will visit North Carolina, Florida, Nevada, Texas and Louisiana.

Don't know a thing about him, but I watched it and that young London girl riding with him was pretty hot looking with a cute little tush.  I liked the way 2x's she rode her cycle with feet up behind her either on rear foot pegs or even all the way back on the passenger seat, pretty flexible young lady making her even hotter looking.  For us guys that position would hurt in more than one place am sure.   Roll Eyes

Not a bad show, something different for sure seeing the sights, etc. of the states.

Must say I enjoyed it.  Went a bit different route than I thought it might go.  Probably a bunch of pissed of Harley fundamentalist out there today that tuned in to see which hog Norman would come ridding in on only to discover he was on a Ducati and then ride off on the trip on a Roland Sands original tricked out something.  How sacrilegious - at least it could have been a chopped up triumph.   I myself would love to take that zero electric bike for a spin.  Going through the redwoods with a bike like that - well one just might be able to hear those giants speak of centuries gone by.  I had never heard of Imogen Lehtonen before, ( family famous for skull rings and other such jewelry) . but by golly she sure could ride next to me.  She had a very easy charm to her and that petite body wrapped up in biker fashion leather is easy to appreciate.   California 101 is breath taking and an excellent choice for the first episode.

Yah,  that tricked out bike by Roland was very nice, but when he hopped on that Ducati and did some stand up tricks and wheelies in traffic, although cool looking,  will make the not so great expert riders like himself attempt to now do it as well.

One thing is for sure,  that blacked out Harley bike that young London girl was riding,  I'd sure like to be that seat.  Wink  Kiss Watch the show and find out..

Yah,  those electric bikes are pretty sweet, suppose to be pretty peppy and silent running, as long as can go some distances and charge up overnight,  would be a good way to go if the price was reasonable and batteries lasted for say 5+ years or longer, much like a prius.  My neighbors 2006 prius finally pucked out the main batteries a few months ago after 160K miles on it and 10 years.  He got remanufactured OEM batteries with a 3 year no pro-ration warranty unlimited mileage 100% replacement within 3 years for 2300 dollars installed at a guy local who owns his own shop dealing with prius's, etc. batteries vs. brand new Toyota non-refurbished batteries only have a 2 year warranty for over 3 grand directly from a Toyota dealer, not too shabby as long as they last another 5-6 years he has his money worth out of them again since OEM batteries lasted 10 years and 160K.   The guy could do both, but for an extra 1 grand more for Toyota factory direct batteries vs. refurbished,  it wasn't worth it to him since with 160K already on the prius and 10 years old,  something else might go majorly wrong with it in the next 3 years and then time to scrap it finally since only worth now about 5 grand.  2200 now is better than say a used car for 10 grand or so with 80K on it already.

Why,  it was a vintage airstream no less?  Roll Eyes

I think it would be pretty nifty on that silent electric cycle cruising thru the redwood forest, sort of spooky especially at night.

Plus, I think  you missed that young London chic strapping her legs behind her on her bike while riding.  NO idea on why she did that, but I assume she likes her privates rubbing directly on the seat?   Cheesy

At the end of the show during the podcast, there was a red and white valkyrie toy right behind the gold goldwing on the shelf. I had to rewind and pause to make sure thats what it was.  cooldude

I haven't replayed it, but I am fairly sure that when they were doing the wheelies, etc, there was a CHP the second car behind them running safety for them.....

Just watched it. Not bad at all. A good vibe and just the thing for a rainy evening on the couch...

I could only handle twenty minutes of it. A little too cheesy for me. If they believe the PCH trek between L.A. and Santa Cruz is bliss they need to get out more. I feel the general consensus of SoCal folks is that the State of Cali ends at the Golden Gate bridge. Those guys on the show need to see the upper end of PCH to see what the definition of two-wheeled bliss is.  Yrmv,

I haven't seen the show. But I've got to agree about California . Some of the best of the state is north of S.F. and east of the San Joquin Valley.  cooldude

I agree,  never been there but from watching that show and hearing all about it dozens of times on this board,   it has to be a MUST see top 10 cycle riding area for sure.

Fontana Dam,  Deals Gap,  the Dragon, Blue ridge,  VERY nice views indeed.

Even got in a porta poddy drag race run, mini 50cc course, and of course some moonshine.

Sounds like the southerners have it all vs. us northerners?   Cry

Having lived and visited pretty much the midwest all my life gets to be a tad bit old and boring.

Not all of us... I'm about 3 hours away from any good riding roads.  Lots of swamp scenery, but the roads are all straight, flat, and full of pot holes.   Cry

On the other hand, I do think we have the best food on the planet!!  cooldude

Beer, brats, and cheese curds here in WI,  what more do you need?    2funny

Actually, the seafood down south is nice to have so local and fresh am sure.  Not much into that Cajun spicy food thing though.

Just finished watching the Appalachia episode, loved it!  Brought back memories of riding those roads four years ago.  Absolutely gorgeous country.

Cookiedough, I don't know exactly where you live, but Wisconsin has wonderful biking roads in the southwestern part near the Mississippi river.  I know in the south central it's flatlands.  I grew up in Milwaukee but had a part time job, while in college, that took me out to the potato and onion farms out there...

Yah I know,  only 2 hours away from PDC and Mississippi River, but the Blue Ridge parkway am sure is 2-3x's bettery scenery am sure judging from the show pics.

Say,  what do all you Texans think of the TX show he did which just ended now?  I wasn't too impressed on this episode vs. the first 2.
