Just got a call from a friend on her way from Pa to Santa Fe, NM that just went down.  Not a lot of details as she is in the hospital with a broken shoulder and not sure of the total extent of her injuries.  Waiting for a call back.

She has (had) a brand new Indian that may need help getting and storing her bike.  We need to find a way to get her bike back to Philadelphia.

It's 9:25 Sunday evening.

Crap.

Sorry to ask the obvious.

Is she an AMA member?

Does her insurance cover roadside/towing?

Maybe she can at least get the bike to someone to start with.

That's one way to help...yes, she's an AMA member.  Was hoping someone nearby or familiar with the area can either give advice or help.

9Ball,
I transport stuff all the time, I'm no where near there (currently about 8 hours away) but, if no one else steps up, give me a shout and I'll see if I can work a route there to pick up the bike.   The only problem is, where is it's destination.   I'm based out of central Kentucky and that's the opposite direction she needs it to go.   But as I said, worst case, give me a holler.   I'll try to help if I can.

Thank you Rams...will keep that in mind.

Still not a lot of details...just trying to get a head start.  I'll know more later tonight or tomorrow morning.  Got to get her health status to see where we go from here.  Would like to get the bike to a safe location too.

Maybe there will be someone from Hillsville that can give help.

If she has a new Indian, she is a member of Indian Riders Group, which has a road service benefit. This would probably take care of the bike logistics!

Thanks...

She's out of the hospital and into a hotel.  The bike is rideable but she has a broken arm.

I'll forward the info about the Indian group benefit.  Nothing else to do tonight.

My wife and I will probably drive down in my F-150 and trailer the bike home for her next weekend.  It's about a 450 mile drive, 6 1/2 hours.

Appreciate the advice.  Going to see what the AMA and Indian riders group can do for her to at least store the bike until it can be retrieved or shipped home.

I'm 2 hours away from Hillsville, VA.

I couldn't get there until this evening.

But, I do have a truck and trailer, let me know if I can help.

Awesome offer.  I think she has a handle on things right now.  I can tell in her voice that she is in a lot of pain and a bit disoriented.

AMA is coming through with towing. We gave her a few numbers of local bike shops.  One shop wanted $65/day to store the bike.  Talk about taking advantage of a bad situation.  The other shop said he will store it inside for up to a month for $100. The towing company is taking the bike from her hotel to the shop.

I want to thank you for the generous offer.  To volunteer to drive 2 hours (each way) to help out a stranger is what this club has always meant to me.  I don't post or follow this site like I used to do.  It was a part of my day...everyday. I changed my handle about 3 or 4 years ago from "jrhorton" to "9ball."  Since my back surgery in 2010 the Valk has been up on a lift in my garage.  I need to go through the carbs, rebuild the front forks, and get new tires before the bike is road-worthy.  I change the gas every year and add fresh stabilizer and Seafoam to keep the tank from rusting.

I'll let you know when things get sorted out or if there is anything we need to get her and her new Indian home.  I don't think the bike has much more than 1,000 miles on it yet.  Sad indeed.

Everything is taken care of.  She made it home and to the hospital.  Severely broken arm.  Bike was stored at a great motorcycle dealer/mechanic and a MotorMaid rider from the area rode her bike back to PA.

Thanks to those that responded with advice or help.
