Not today with a bill before the California legislature

http://www.christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2016/june/californias-religious-liberty-moment-coming-to-state-near-y.html

The California legislature is poised to consider legislation that could destroy the ability of numerous faith-based colleges and universities to pursue the mission for which they were created. SB 1146, one of two similar bills recently introduced into the California legislature, would essentially restrict fully faith-based education to seminaries.

As explained in the Biola University news:

If passed as is, this bill would strip California’s faith-based colleges and universities of their religious liberty to educate students according to their faith convictions.

The proposed legislation seeks to narrow a religious exemption in California only to those institutions of higher learning that prepare students for pastoral ministry. This functionally eliminates the religious liberty for students of all California faith-based colleges and universities who integrate spiritual life with the entire campus educational experience.

Still waiting for it to fall into the Pacific before I revisit the West Coast.  Hasn't that been the plan over the years?

I read most of the bill and some of the analysis from various California government departments. (Senate, judiciary, education, etc.).  What this bill is for is to require schools of higher education THAT ACCEPT STATE FUNDS to post their claims of title lX exemptions based on their religion to students, prospective students, teachers and facility.  In other words they have to tell those people that they discriminate against that fact before being admitted or hired.  It doesn't restrict any religious activity including required religious attendance. If any student elects to enroll he should be informed that he can legally discriminated against or expelled or fired if it is found that after admittance he is found to be a member of a discriminated group.
The bill does not require any changes of the beliefs of institutions, only that people can make informed decisions.  If the institutions want to continue their present policies then they need only stop accepting public subsidies.

My late daughter went to Biola, a great school.  I guess people feel to guilty to allow then to teach Christian values and service.
