I have a Vintage, but it is a different ride. I have a Springfield on order, and it will be born in August, and be for sale immediately. It is the Limited Edition Jack Daniels Springfield that they made 150 of, and sold out in 7 hours. Anxious to get it!! Springfield is a great ride, but don't think it will run with a Valk....It won't!!!

When I turned the handle on my 98 Harley (Evo motor) it was like reving up a lawn mower... I hope the Indian will at least zip down the road well enough to be ridable... it sure is a nice looking motorcycle with a lot of the right stuff on it... it looks like the rider seat will accept a nice OEM backrest... I don't care if it can beat a Valkyrie in a drag race...

I think you got a grip on it, Mike!! A little behind the Valk, performance wise, but light years ahead of the Hardley!! Check it out, you will be pleased!

I believe Indian is going to give HD more than a serious run at the V twin market. I rode the new model "Springfield" the other day; a very nice machine indeed. I went in to buy a John Deere mower belt at the dealer that handles both brands. (I was on the Valkyrie) I walked past all the Indians I have ridden in the past and then saw the Springfield on the show room floor. I asked the sales guy if they had one for a demo ride; he said "no" but he will wheel this one off the floor for you. Five minutes later I was on the road with it and put 35 miles on the new machine. I really didn't want to wind up the new machine, but I pressed it a bit and it does go. Suspension is the best ride I've had. Cluster gauge is down out of sight line though, cumbersome to look down and still keep eyes forward. Engine is sculpted and is pure artwork. Seat height appears to be about 2 inches lower. Add ons are very pricey.
Always fun to drive different machines for me. But in the end, the Valkyrie is still the better overall machine.

Oldish guy, were you at the Watkins dealership? Stopped in there one day, and they were more than willing to pull a new one off the floor for me. Seemed like a good group to deal with.

Yes, that is the place. They always have 6 or 7 new demo Indians outside that you can just show your license, sign the waiver and go unsupervised. As you found out they will roll the Springfield off the clean showroom for you as well. All the clean used bikes (50-75) they will roll out for you as well, faster than you can sign the standard waiver. I tested out a Jade Valkyrie a few years ago for a friend that bought it. Best bike dealership I know of. Well funded dealership as the John Deere products built a stable business and trained them on customer service.

I have not rode one of those yet...... earlier this year I stopped at a Victory dealer to see if I could take one for a ride, at first he was alittle stand offish then he asked what I was ridind, we went out side to show him my Valkyrie, and as soon as he saw it, he said OH YA you can ride one.... took one for a good half hour ride. Rode ok liked the 6th gear, but didnt like the controls or handle bars, just felt off,the over all look was long, and bulky I like the smooth clean lines of our Valkyries better. Another frien of mine is trying to get the money togeather to get an Indian, not sure which model, he has had a Harley, now wants an Indian, I told him about the Victories, that would be allittle less $$$$$$$$ and he said he would go look at them...... ME Ill keep my Val thanks anyway

There's one Victory/Indian crossover bike, the Scout is also a Victory Somethingorother. -Mike

I hope they make it this time and with the deep pockets behind them they have the best shot ever keeping the brand on the road . Every time I see one with the hard saddlebags I just can't get the how " cheap " the saddlebags look its like they ordered them off E-bay.

I thought the same thing... In person, when you open them, you can see and feel their heaviness and quality and they don't seem bad. They are bigger than my Corbin bags, probably as big as Valkyrie bags. In most old Indian pictures, they have leather saddlebags... maybe they had to hire some modern designer to "invent" what old-style Indian hard bags should have looked like... -Mike

The remote control open and lock disguises the cheap look!
