Small world, isn't it? When I was there it was called Camp Pickett and Blackstone was called Tombstone as it was 'dead' except for tattoo parlors.
Absolutely true, the Army was where I learned about all races and ethnic groups from all over the US.
Good times and some bad, except in Korea, there it was all good. The closeness to a combat zone made us get along, blacks and whites.
I don't remember when they stopped calling it Camp Pickett and started calling it Ft. Pickett.
Blackstone is still very small.
