Look at it this way, you did not get burned or worse and your house is still there. Fix the problems and the squirrel trouble if you can, be happy that all it cost you is some pipe and labor. Firefighter

I see a .22 or pellet gun in your near future. Although no home damage, the darn chipmunks and rabbits and what appears to be a woodchuck scurrying in my garden is bound to be all dead if I can either shoot them or trap them soon. Every few years depending on what we plant in our garden and more so the farmer plants in his field directly behind our house dictates somewhat the critters living nearby. Blackbirds are always a pest and fun to have some target practice on even though technically within city limits my neighbors don't care I don't think? Squaking _astards in our tall pine tree bush right outside our bedroom window sucks having them squak in the morning to no end if the windows are open. I sometimes like to wound one and have it squak which bring other blackbirds around for some more target practice. Just don't shoot a skunk more than once since the smell can be bad....

I REALLY need a squirrel stencil or a squirrel decal! Only need one more to make ace-5 of dem nasty azzed varmints-on Phatt Ghurl. With my cage I'm like a quadruple ace X 3! MUCHO easier to eliminate squrrels than forest rats with a motor vehicle! RIDE SAFE.

I warned you guys...
That was great!!! On a side note... what is this "black pipe only" thing you (Oss that is) speak of? I've been debating a whole house generator run on Natrual Gas or Propane (haven't decided the fuel just yet). But, while putting that it, I was also debating running a few lines for the house (for things like Hot Water Heater, Stove/Oven, maybe even put in a faux fire place). The original lines (yes, the house USED to have gas) are pretty much toast. I wouldn't trust them at all. I was thinking PEX tubing since they do make a gas one. Is PEX no longer allowed??

Depends on your counties codes. My county does not allow pex for gas but my parents county does. Only 15 miles away

I don't know, if it was me, I'd consider hiring a lawyer and fight this tooth and nail. Is the Chief qualified to determine they are in fact, squirrel bites? Why do squirrel bites make it worse than another? Squirrel lives matter to ya know. A good lawyer would have experts squirrelled away and cut the nuts out of this demand. Edited: Oh Yeah, what flavor Ice Cream?

Gamo, break barrel with a scope, .22 about $175.00. That, a six pack and a bag of bird seed, that's a redneck entertainment center.

Actually, with the right deals, you can buy one for 100 bucks on sale a few times per year. I was going to go .22 vs. .177 for 99 bucks black friday deal on a Gamo Big Cat break action but decided to get the .177 caliber. Man, that thing is LOUD but pretty accurate out to 25 yards or so once I fine tuned the scope adjustments.

Man, that thing is LOUD but pretty accurate out to 25 yards or so once I fine tuned the scope adjustments. I have a pump .177, and an RWS spring piston .22, and both are much louder than my Ruger 10/22 18" bbl (with 4X scope) with Aguilla Super Colibri .22 ammo (subsonic). No ear protection necessary. With no powder and only the bit of fulminated mercury primer, the 20 gr slug is slower than regular .22, and they warn it is only safe in handguns and could hang up in the bbl with rifles, but I have some thousands of them through the Ruger, and nary a problem (like all .22, it's kind of dirty). Better in a bolt action, but if your bbl is longer than 18", use care to check for a bbl hangup (and run an oil patch through any dry rifle bbl before shooting). It is not powerful enough to cycle a semiauto, so I must single load. Out to yard distances, it is plenty accurate and knocks them over much better than lighter pellets. It still makes some noise, and obviously you have to be careful of your backstop or a miss/ricochet, but they run out of steam downrange. http://www.sgammo.com/product/22-lr/500-round-brick-22-lr-super-colibri-powderless-cartridge-primer-fired-20-grain-bullet-

Evan, many years ago, Claire had a contractor come in and do aluminum siding. As he was cleaning out the soffits, he remarked that there were signs of squirrels nesting there. She asked if there were any squirrel eggs there... he almost fell off the ladder laughing. Please remember that they can be very tasty when breaded and fried. Takes a couple to make a meal...

Had the same debate, both with myself and with the spouse. Turned out this way- the last Hurricane that came through, we decided to bug out for a change. I'd ridden one or two out and decided to just head west, check into an Embassy Suites and wait for things to return to normal back home. Spent three days and came home, a total of around 1,100, including food, gas, lodging and an embarrasingly large bar tab. Had a nice time, too. Very relaxing. For the rare event of a power failure here, it wasn't worth it at all, money wise. I do have a 7.5K portable generator that I have spent more time running for maintenance than for actually powering anything due to a power outage. It's sufficient. I can run the hot water heater, fridge and whatnot from it.
