Before we hit triple digits I thought I would take a short ride near Redding CA.  Enjoy.

Headed north to check out the water levels at beautiful Shasta Lake.  Looking good.




The lake doesn't look to bad either.  Higher levels at this time of year than we have seen in awhile.  This is the Pit Arm near Jones Valley.

Next up is beautiful Whiskeytown Lake.  Federally mandated to be at full pool from Labor Day to Memorial Day.  Amen.



Next up west to French Gulch.  This cool little town was the hub of the far Northern California Gold Rush.  Millions came out of the hills.

Very nice  cooldude I haven't been to French Gulch, I'm going to have to check it out. The lake sure is looking better than it did a year ago. You are going to have to get over to Russel's. I don't know how you can take that stock '98 seat. It's making my butt hurt just seeing it.  coolsmiley

Is there a restaurant of sorts in French Gulch? Heard there was one a couple years ago. Have never gone back in there to check it out. I have a Corbin seat collecting dust (actually its sealed in a plastic bag). If ya make it this far west someday feel free to swing by and take a look. Have a few other Valk related trinkets that need a good home.

Thanks fella's. 

Since my other bike and only bike for the past ten years is a KLR that seat feels like a couch.

That being said my longest one day ride has been 200 miles so I might be in for a rude awakening when I go long.

Thanks for the Corbin offer.  I will have to do some research.  I believe there is a restaurant at the French Gulch but not positive.  There is a cool old school bar across the street as well.

Next up Lassen National Park.  I'll post some pics.

There are several saddle options.  The original pre-2000 OEM is the worst.  The least expensive is probably an 2000+ OEM at $90 plus shipping new or a used seat of whatever is available.

A few years back there was a restaurant in the Hotel and may still be there, I don't know. I used to ride there on Sundays for Brunch, and it was excellent. I've also had a few dinners there, and the food was very good. Nice people too. Rob you would have passed within a couple of miles or so of French Gulch if you had taken 299 out of Redding to the coast instead of 36 out of Red Bluff on your trip last year. just saying.....rick
