I work straight weekend nights, right now Fri-Sun/7pm-7am. I've been doing this for the past 3yrs. Before that I've pretty much either worked 24s or straight nights for the past 20yrs. So I don't sleep great, but I get a 4 day weekend every week, live in the South and have 3 bikes and a boat. It has been absolutely miserable here this summer, high 90s, high humidity, triple digit heat index every day, sucks sitting in tourist traffic on a bike. The Harley really sucks, like sitting on a wood stove, but the Valkyrie still gets really warm sitting in the sun, in the traffic, not as hot as the Harley, but still sucks.
I'm usually up most of the night when I'm off and nighttime has been hitting the 70s with a cool breeze. I've been putting on the miles at night. I live at the beach, and 2-6 in the morning the roads are deserted, just me, a couple other nuts, the cops and the drunks. I stay off the country roads and the highway, the deer are way too thick here at night, cruise the beach roads and love it. I got my Valkyrie less than 30 days ago and got almost 1000 miles on it, plus I've put another almost 200 on the FatBoy. I get my 4 days a week off and with the exception of a trip to the supermarket the car usually stays parked all 4 days.
Any other Vampires out there up all night riding????
I did a switch at work this week, I'm off tonight and work tomorrow night, I'm gonna be a good boy and catch up on some laundry and chores until about 0100hrs, then it's off for a ride. The Valkyrie is sitting out in the carport waiting.

I don't mind night riding, but slow down to 55 mph since all rural country roads and have been close many times with critters.   I like the hot and cold spells going up and down the hills in the road, pretty neat.  Something you don't get in a cage.  Bug splats sort of suck as well at night.

I love those cool spots you run into along a road.  Due to age though I just don't see well enough at night to be safe.  Wish I could.  Been 99 to 102 here with humidity.

no thanks for around 100 degree temps.  I mowed my yard 1 1/2 hours in the WI HUMID 90 degree heat and was drenched push mowing.  Then,  had to drive over to my mom's house to do her 1 hour job of push mowing her yard as well.  2 1/2 hours of push mowing in one HOT day was plenty enough for me.

At night I have to use my prescription glasses since if not,  everything is blurry, not clear.  Signs of aging I guess?  I have not used my glasses at night a few times when forgetting them, but slow it down to under 50 mph since cannot see very far ahead safely.   I'd be in big trouble at night in bigger cities not knowing where I am going since would be hard to read road signs even being blurry.

Love hitting those cool spots too, I don't worry about the bugs, I put a windshield on her.

All we got around here at night is thousands of drunks and cops.  I hate to interfere.

On the right full moon nights, I do enjoy cruising up and down the Geo Washington Parkway (actually a national park) along the Potomac.

If I feel adventurous, I can run up into Old Town Alexandria and get in a traffic jam.

I thought this thread was going to be about a Pontiac Firebird that needed AI because David Hasselhoff drove it.

When I lived in Texas had a naked 920 Virago. Absofrikkinlutely LOVED night riding in East Texas. Those temperature drops y'all speaking of would git the exes nipples hard!  cooldude Had to pay a LOT of attention cuz the forest rats have a heavy populations there.  Lips Sealed Came close a few times but never tagged one!  Roll Eyes Thinking about giving a night ride a shot-when it quits raining here!  uglystupid2 Bugs are a royal P I T A to clean off after a night ride though!  crazy2 Sure wouldn't mind having that 920 back.  Wink RIDE SAFE.

exes nipples hard - and why is she now an EX?   Evil

We had a co-worker when we were both in our 20's way back when and could tell all the time when she was COLD which seemed like always!!!!  I swear you could easily hang coffee mugs from them with no issues of them coming off....   Lips Sealed   Her very high and tight leather mini-skirt (now outlawed)  almost made me want to go into work daily...   coolsmiley

Anyways,  yah bugs suck at night but if it weren't for the forest rats,  night riding is preferred since less traffic and cooler temps.  If you get into a rural setting with overhanging branches into the road,  it is sort of spooky at night.
