Just started this issue on my Interstate, my Rt. turn signals work fine, the left side when activated do not come on but all the lights on the trunk and license plate light flash (they are not suppose to).At first it kept blowing  the fuse but now it doesn't, could this be the turn signal switch ,is there any way to check the switch ? I have checked everything I could think of.
   Thanks, Skip

I cleaned a switch by spraying contact cleaner in it.  Worked.

But you obviously have a short somewhere.

I've never heard of  a switch causing a short, but who knows.

Looks like your going to have to do a hunt and search. Sad

I'd start by inspecting the switch housing, remove the two screws and the cover should come off, then work your way down the line.

My signal switch lever broke a couple weeks ago, had to buy a new assembly from the dealer. It was only $120 (that's here in Canada, so probably less there) My old one is still good, just the lever part broke, you could swap your good lever over to it(it's just 1 Phillips screw to swap that I think).  Everything works on it and the connectors are fine.

If you want it, I could send it to you. Although with the time required to ship across the border, and the fact you can't really ride it like that, you'd probably be better off putting out the $100 to buy the whole assembly new if you decide that is the problem.

Personally though, I'd take the headlight out and double check all the connections and wires in there. Bad grounds can also cause all kinds of strange issues with signal lights too.

Edit: sorry, just realized you have an interstate, wiring isn't in the headlight bucket like on my tourer.

I wouldn't rule out the wiring and connector under the rear fender also.

As meathead said,I would check the connector by the back fender first. It's been mentioned here before and when corroded can cause all kinds of weird stuff to happen. So far mine has not acted up but maybe it's time to check and clean it anyway.
