Correct me if I am wrong, but those don't look like factory saddle bags. If you look behind the bags you will see the mount.  Those look like my Champion saddlebag mounting plates.  If those are fiberglass, they may be champion bags, I paid $1500 for mine and never regretted paying for them, also the newer Champions locks have the word Champion on them. I will have to look again!

Champion bags and 1500 mounts for how much?  I would not care what you call them, someone needs to snap them up or I will and I don't need them. Have we seen the prices on 1500 bags with mounts lately?  Yes the guy is a bonehead on his OEM claim.  I sent a note to him also.  It is a great deal, I have them on my 1800.

No one is disputing the fact that it is a good deal but if someone were to purchase thinking they would mount to OEM hardware then that wouldn't be goo. Just asking him to change his post. Oh yeah and I saw where you got that shield for pnuts coolsmiley

I don't believe he has factory mounts, he says "fact.brackets but no hardware" and he is wrong on that.

At least according to the pictures.

I guess the question is what factory is he talking about?

What do the Champion 1500 mounts go for?

Yup those be Champion like others have said and were actually better than oem because of them being fiberglass and like others have pointed out better locks. That is also a great price, I also paid like 1600 for my bags and hardware. I was looking for a used set when I wanted a pair and the best that I could do was a grand. The mounting brackets weigh more than the bags.

Look in good condition except he probably dropped the bike with the bags on since there is some road rash on the bottom corner. Its not bad and can be cleaned up pretty easy. Could probably use that to get them for less since they are not perfect. The mounts will mount to the bike just as well and better than the factory mounts I dont care what he calls them someone is going to get a great deal. I wouldn't tell him what he has he may up the price and if the guy is not being nice who cares.

I guess a question to ask the seller is, does everything in the picture come with.   Maybe he could answer that correctly.

You can clearly see in the pics the brackets that mate the bags to the 1500. He says you need nuts and bolts.     The seller just has his description head screwed on wrong.

Back when I bought my first set from Champion, the owner said he made his bag off a splash (Mold around original item)off of OEM bags.  OEM bags are ABS crap that crack very easy, Champion are high quality fiberglass bags. I don't understand the debate. This guy, even without the mounts, new would cost $1300/painted, at $400 he is giving them away, if someone needs bags you are looking a gift horse in the mouth. I believe they come with the mounts, they a little beefy, but they are great if you want add a hitch and need something to attach to the beef up the hitch.

Did your OEM bags fail some kind of way?

I feel both bags and brackets are excellent and I have had three 1500s with I/S bags including my current standard made more like a tourer.  I do feel having both that the champion is a better bag and the icing on the cake is the entire interior is lined with thin carpet.  What I like about the OEM bags is the way the bracket nests into groves in the bag. Makes for a nice tuck in.   cooldude

Maybe I got a little carried way, but one of my trades were, I was a Prototype Model Maker, and worked allot with various plastics, mainly ABS, I use to do allot of vacuum forming with it. I was never impressed with it, I use it because I had no alternative.  When I first got my standard, the first thing was I wanted saddle bags, I priced New Honda's bags at a price of $2600, so I looked around, when to that cycle salvage parts in Ohio site for bags, and 95% were cracked or broken. My experience over time, ABS seems to get brittle, I don't know if it is time or UV that does it, but it didn't look good.  So at that time I came across with Champion bags paid $1500, and never when back, and they are as strong and look good as the day I bought them. Although I did put a scratch in one of them. I have had the bike since 2003.

You went to a cycle salvage yard and discovered most were cracked ?  Uh... Impacts with cars, trucks, pavement will tend to have that effect.  coolsmiley

$500  was that recently? If so that was a smoken deal. I see the brackets alone on EBay now for that price.  Good deals are out there, we just have to keep one eye open.  And your Regan comment was a good one!

I have repaired several Goldwing trunks that were cracked from vibrations, all ABS, and what ever, cracks, chunks falling out and no impact. I am just express my opinion on those bags and my hands on experiences, you don't have to buy, someone will get a great deal even if the pay the $400, if you can't see that, then what can I say.

Well someone could have had a good deal on those bags, will be interesting to see the new listing IF they even come back for sale again.

If the seller did not know what he had, he probably knows now

Don't remember what I paid for them, only it was a lot! And with shipping and customs the total was an obscene amount of money. But I have never regretted buying these bags. The paint was spot on. Rode all over Europe with them and never ever one drop of rain inside.
The OEM bags on my Interstate weren't always watertight, had to change the rubbers of the bags once.

Where do you live? Cant imagine shipping and customs being that much here in the USA? I sold some IS bags with brackets several years ago to a friend for 500. They were taken off a trike conversion when new. Never even seen the road.
