I am new to the forum.  I own a 2000 IS.  Can anyone tell me the difference between the 1999 and 2000 Valkyrie IS?

So there is no difference between 99 and 2001 except the year of production?

That is pretty much it. There were few different options such as fog lamps and with or without a CB but same bike.

I think all three years of Interstates are pretty much the same.  I owned a 99 and a 2001. I'm thinking both had Made in the USA stamped on the engine block.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I am hesitant to correct you Wiggy. But I THINK the '01's didn't have it.
As far as the differences, I think it was only in the colors offered. Now this is from memory and probably wrong. All years offered Black. 99's green&silver, red&black. 2000's blue&silver, red&black. 01's maroon&black ?

You could well be right, meathead. I had the 2001 first and then the 99 up to last years deer strike. I knew the 99 had it for sure but couldn't remember about the 01. And yes, you're so right on the colors...Different years probably had the different colors but I was only interested in the fast black models!   Cheesy  Grin

Each year of the IS is the same. Nothing changed other than the seat on a 00'+, the rims (polished/coated). Cant think of anything else.

Thanks, Rob. I try to come back and check in from time to time. You're still all my family! IF a cancellation comes up for SmokinJoe's Fall Color Ride, I'm going to try to make that. If not, I'll certainly consider alternatives.
Thanks for the heads up.

The only other thing that comes to mind is they clear coated the wheels
the last year along with the pumpkin. They did the same thing to the standard.

01 IS pearl beige and black (I call it black and tan)
also black on black
and the revered reverse red and black that MP has

Seat may be better in the 01 than the 99 but since I have the RussellDayLong for a decade now I forget for sure about that

I think the one piece interstate seat never changed. Only the 2 piece standard/tourer. I may be wrong

No, I think you are correct.

Seat never changed from a 1 piece, but others have said that the 00' + is more comfortable.

Wasn't too sure on which years had what, only what some of the differences are.

colors offered is the biggie.

I wonder how many 99-01 I/S's are still on the road considering how many made is all?

Could become an antique collector in another 4 years or so putting antique plates on it???   2funny

very hard to imagine these bikes are now 15 years old and still look 4-6 years old is all still getting compliments if ONLY I cleaned it up some.  I do need to clean the windshield ASAP on it though since too buggy and unclear haven't washed it all of this year yet not even once for a quick cleaning.  Coming home in the sun past few nights looking into the sun was very hard to see a darn thing thru it not even the road luckily I can see over the shield.  Been thinking of getting rid of OEM shield on it since 2001 going 2" taller since get a tad bit of buffer on top of my helmet is all but if I don't clean it,  could spell big trouble since then would have to see THRU the shield vs. over it.
