Frame cracks! You want an '05 or newer. If I had it to do over I'd hold out for an '06 & up, much better audio system

how much of a frame cracking was there in reality?? 100's or thousands? And iff the frame cracks, can't you just take it to any honda dealer and get the recall done and repaired for free still yet today?
reason I ask is although audio might be better in 2006 on up, the 01 thru 04 wings are getting pretty darn cheap like 8K or so is all and some low 30K mileage or so. The 06's wings are still over 10g's for basically same as an 01/02 wing?
The valk I/S stereo system is probably worse than the 2001 thru 2004 wings in terms of speakers and amps, etc.

how much of a frame cracking was there in reality?? 100's or thousands? Unfortunately it seem's to be a pretty prevalent issue on the Wing board. And iff the frame cracks, can't you just take it to any honda dealer and get the recall done and repaired for free still yet today? Yes, but do you really want your local dealer to remove every nut, bolt, & wire from your "new to you" machine & try & get it all back together right? I won't let them remove my wheels!
reason I ask is although audio might be better in 2006 on up, the 01 thru 04 wings are getting pretty darn cheap like 8K or so is all and some low 30K mileage or so. That's my point, there's a reason for that. The 06's wings are still over 10g's for basically same as an 01/02 wing?
The valk I/S stereo system is probably worse than the 2001 thru 2004 wings in terms of speakers and amps, etc. No, the '01-'05 Wings have a very low quality substandard amp installed in the radio itself (as opposed to the '06 & up with a true, separate 80w amp in rear of bike) & no matter what you do to the audio system it still all has to run through this amp. (Distorts everything!) My 2KIS sounded much better factory than my '05 Wing with upgraded speakers & aftermarket amp.
I really would avoid the '01-'04 models. Frame had been "beefed up" from factory by '05. .02 worth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I have a 2003 had a 2002 for a while. Reb's Wing is an 2002 I think. The bikes had a recall and you can find out from a dealer if your bike has been checked out. From what I have been able to find out there were very few founded to have a cracked frame. All year models seem to have some type of recalls. I'm having a blast with mind. Happy hunting friend.

Robin, I was also told to buy 06 or newer, mainly because of audio. The frame crack issue is rare but still possible, so why take the chance. As Whiskey will verify, go to the GL1800 Riders board, as with the VRCC board more info there than you will ever cover. Check their 4 sale page, several good deals on wings.

Those years also had a brake recall that up until about 6 months ago they had not come up with a fix for. Now they have and the dealers stock the parts to do the recall , takes a few hours to do , and is covered completely by Honda.I have a 2001 Wing that I love everything about , no complaints about the sound systemn and I even grew up in the LOUD rock-n-roll music era !!

One of our long time, but less active now, Texas members has a Metallic Black '07 HPNA with 36K miles for $12,500. If you're interested, I'll be happy to make an introduction.

I'll spank that ass like a five year old at K-mart.... In reverse..... I do agree with all on getting an 06' or newer. It's hard to really get sound out of the speakers. I've replaced mine twice now in the fearing. The radio's in the 2001's are garbage in my opinion, weather band is the only thing that comes in clear on mine. I purchased a J&M audio deal that replaces the CD player. 500+ songs loaded on it works better than any radio. I've looked at 06' and newer myself, just can't find a color I really like
