Say What You mean Mean What You Say

Just wondering if there are Custom Tips available to replace the stock 15" one.
I don't want to alter the stock exhaust setup other than cut off the rear piggies.
I am looking for a slash cut look if there is anything out there.
Thanks...

These are 18" and just clear the bags perfectly.  I think the stock are (somewhat) longer than 15" (?).

You have to drill your own holes.  There are three, but these slip fit so tight (I used a piece of two by four and a rubber mallet) I think only one (on the inside) would be necessary to hold them on for a lifetime.  I did all three and it was overkill.  Two at most.  After making a cardboard/heavy paper template of the hole location(s) of the OE tips then transferring them to the new tips, dimple them with a center punch slightly (lest you walk the bit over the new chrome), then drill with a new sharp 1/8" bit, then go to full size (3/8"/Xmm ?)

Slash cuts.

I prefer the flat cuts (slashers aimed down will bounce more noise to your/passenger's ears).

I do like that flat cut look as well...either way ...thanks for the info.
I will try local custom truck shops first before ordering one of the posted options.
Thanks...Wayne

I'd think twice about cutting the piggies.  Search the forum for the term "drone".  There are many that have regretted modding their stockers and even have the piggies reinstalled -- if they're not cut too short.

I just replaced the stock  tips with 18" truck stacks on my unmolested standard exhaust and it is now considerably louder and in my opinion sounds great.  I'm glad I did not cut the piggies.

I will definitely try them without "molesting" the stock system first.
The mods will be done when the bike is up on the jack for the winter.
End of October is pretty much the end of riding here in Calgary
Thanks ...Wayne

If you decide to cut the pigs anyway, start off by leaving some of each pig existing (esp the one that is threaded for one of the tip mounts) (at least an inch or more).  That way you can add copper tubes to restore them back later, if you want to.  They can be repaired if cut all the way off, but then you have to buy a full replacement deal from Mark T.

Extra long piggie replacements.

Downturns (as opposed to slash cuts) will drag riding off aprons (but here is another pig modification).

Another reason to go with flat cut tips... the pigs remain hidden.

My IS came with pigs all gone (but no drilling baffles) and straight cut tips.   They have a nice rumble cruising around, but long rides on the freeway they can drone a bit more than I would like.  If you ride next to a long jersey wall (or something like that), the drone gets real apparent.

Standard/Tourer piggies in 18" truck stacks. Interstate piggies will be longer and likely quieter.

If you cut the piggies and like to wear a full face helmet in the cool weather, the drone is pretty much intolerable....at least it was for me.....I went back to stock.

All good information...I like a nice deep sound but that droning sound is reason to leave the piggies alone.
Thanks everybody...Wayne
