Now seriously folks, if you had an extra $14M laying around would this be something you'd consider? https://www.yahoo.com/news/first-shelby-cobra-ever-built-171500455.htmlSure the Cobra was a cool car and don't get me wrong I'd love to have one but at that price who's going to really drive it...hell how do you even insure it. Sure Haggerty or another classic car insurer will write a policy but where's the fun in owning it if you can't actually drive it. I'm sure to a collector this is the cream of the crop as far as classics go but that's just it, a collectors item to sit in a garage or museum and just be a standing piece of history and investment. Sure the price will continue to go up as time goes on but the car will basically sit for the rest of its life.

I'm kinda surprised the car was put up for sale. I'd like to find out more about that and who's idea it was. The car is an icon. It was the start of it all. There is quite a story behind that little 260 powered AC. It takes a rich hard core collector to end up with something like that. I just hope it'll end up somewhere where people can have a look at it and not stuck in some private collection not open to the public.

Even IF I hit publishers clearing house 5G a week for life STILL could NOT afford it. I've watched couple of those automobile auctions outa Vegas and Most if not ALL are outa that 5G a week fer life thing. I look at E-bay and even a well done 55-56 Chevy Nomad is outa my reach! Well Dad used to say-crap in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills the fastest. RIDE SAFE.

My dad bought one brand new when they first came out, kept it a week, then got the dealership to take it back because he didn't think it was practical or a smart thing to buy at the time...

He also had a cherry red 1945 Indian Chief in great condition he sold for $100... And we could talk about the boxes of 1940's and 1950's comic books my grandmother threw away when he went to college. And people wonder why MY generation are such pack rats? I'm terrified to throw ANYTHING away!

Been there done that. 63 Jag. XKE sold it for $700. 48 Buick super traded for a 65 mustang to the dealer. Traded the Mustang for a 63 Ford Galaxy XL500 conv. Don't have any of them now. 20-20 hindsight.
