How about either starting a topic on what ever motorcycle related topic or asking for those to post about something about motorcycles. Oss gave us all an example of when he said post your rides.

You know criticizing political posts does not keep the motorcycle posts going  Wink

No problem with your suggestion, in fact I can support it but, that picture was totally un-necessary. Shocked

If you do take the time and effort to post a ride with pictures maybe a little history of where you're riding it's on page 2 in a few hours then 3,4,5 etc. I still post rides sometimes with taking the time to upload pic's and run-down some history if any however it's got to the point its not worth the effort fact is I took a nice ride today just didn't feel the need to go through the song and dance getting the pictures here it would be on page 2 by now and its gone.  I've made a few political comments as of late but I mostly stay away from them mainly cause if you do post a ride its gone in hours with the board covered in political BS .

Well Joe I for one love your posts and I look back at them also, so if you give up then the political posts win by default. Kind of like not voting for Trump because you dont like the elections.  Grin

Honestly one of the things I want to do is take one of the rides you do. I would so love to go on at least one of them. I have never had the desire for a group ride except for yours and I will do it one day.

I am with  you there Joe. I not only posted the ride but posted a link of a blog I did on my Alaska ride.
Took a lot of work to post that stuff and update every night. More than most people know. Had a few here comment but way more commented on FB. I blame that on the fact that the link goes away to page 2 3 or 4 in a very short time. Not sure how to change that. Anyhow the ride was a blast and that was the main thing I wanted to accomplish.

There is not a ride report from Joe or yours that I have not thoroughly enjoyed. I sure am glad you did that blog. Checked it 2 or 3 times every day.  cooldude If this forum dies I guess I will do Facebook but I've seen my wife's and it doesn't appeal to me. Following your ride was pure pleasure for me. I think you are right. We as riders should take a more proactive role in pumping up ride reports. Be warned, I'm bringing my go pro knock off on the Catskills ride.  Smiley

Along with ride reports I love bike pics. I wish more would post pics of their Valks.  Either we separate the boards, (yes I know what Admin has to go through to make that happen) or Hope the new year slows the political threads a bit.  I do read them but I don't want to comment on them.

Joe, the rides you all do in the mountains and post are needed therapy for us flat landers.  angel

If it were strictly up to me I would ban all political posts. I do not understand why people think that this is the place for politics. I read all ride reports and only look into the political posts if they are reported. Even then I usually skip them unless there are multiple people reporting the same post. There are something's that you should have the common curtesy to refrain from, like yelling fire in a crowded place or farting in church. There are some folks here that I question even own a motorcycle. If they do there is no way that they spend any time on it. They couldn't possibly squeeze in a ride between all of their political bs. The sad thing is that they are ruining the board for the riders and are NOT going to change a single person's mind. I just don't understand what they are trying to accomplish on a motorcycle forum with this drivel. Liberal or conservative this is not the place for it. There are plenty of sites out there for them to post on that are political based. This one is supposed to be motorcycle based.  cooldude

Good idea  cooldude RonBou over on the NewEngland chapter does something pretty cool. He usually starts off the morning with a pic of a previous ride.

This was from a SoCal ride a while back. I like it for a couple reasons. The biggest being that it was a road that DonaldCC used to talk about. The Palms to Pines Hiway. Also the movie "Its a Mad, Mad World" was filmed partially on it.

I ENJOY ride reports, trip posts and bike pictures.

I appreciate the amount of work it takes to post these and always re-read them.

Thanks to Joe, DDT, and all the other people that take the time and effort.

Agreed. I don't read every post, but a large percentage....And I love the ride reports. There are some pretty talented wordsmiths among us.

The pictures are great, I like seeing the different bikes and putting face to the names...

I have been griping about the political, religious, and gun post taking over the General Board for years, and on multiple occasions (as have others) requested that we get a Ride Board going (I had suggested calling it Readers Rides), however it does not seem that it will happen. So my suggestion is, can we at least get a Readers Ride thread, such as those on the top of the General Board? (Posting Pictures from Photostash, Rules of the Road, VRCC Members motorcycles, post your picture here.) that way the actual riders threads do not disappear from page one and anyone can see when someone posted a new ride.
It would be up to the Admin folks to police it seeing as some members here are very strongly opinionated and insist on posting their opinions everywhere.
Just my .02 cents worth of it.

That sounds like a good idea. It would solve the problem of ride reports disappearing so quickly and I'm sure it would increase the views.

"Joe's" ride reports, along with Solo1 and DDT's musings, and a heaping handful of other's meanderings is what keeps me coming back. Valk went to Valhalla four years ago. But, while I'm on different wheels I keep hang'n around.  Maybe a baby board just for politics? Maybe a baby board for ride reports. I don't do Facebook, so if its not posted here I don't see it. Misfit, I know the members don't really have a vote per se, but I wouldn't be a bit disappointed if political posts were outright banned. As stated, there are plenty of other places one can get their fill of these. Nobody every convinces the "other side" to switch allegiance anyway.  I admit to joining an F6b site to learn more about the new bike I own. That site doesn't allow politics except in one little off topic "anything goes" forum. And the main boards, which are strictly F6b related are not lacking for activity in the least.  Just a thought.

The Ride reports on Adventure Riders.com are epic and great entertainment. I'd fully support a ride thread here. I've often wondered why there wasn't one. The politics are tiring and tend to make me change channels and leave VRCC for something more entertaining. I'd like to read more of Joe's antics and others of that long-time VRCC ilk. Go Ride Reports!!!

There are plenty of sites out there for them to post on that are political based. This one is supposed to be motorcycle based.  cooldude

There have been some great points made in this thread. I like many others, really appreciate the ride reports and pics and understand the time it takes to put them together. I hadn't really thought about how fast they can fall off the page and get lost in the shuffle.

I agree with what Wiggydotcom said, that banning the politics would be great.
Regarding the argument of "we would lose members or log in numbers" I am not sure of that. I have met several individuals whom I have tried to introduce to the VRCC and several have said that there is too much BS on there and they do not wish to join, and yes the BS is all the political and gun rants. to quote one of the guys " I thought this was a motorcycle forum for riders".
