So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

« on: September 07, 2016, 05:48:29 PM »

So, who impressed you with their responses?

What did you think?

Any surprises?

Confirmations?

I'll start,

Hillary claimed that nothing that went through her private email account was marked with a header of Top Secret, Secret or Classified. My response is, just because it wasn't marked as classified doesn't mean it wasn't discussed. She a frigg'n lawyer and speaks with forked tongue. No, I'm sure it wasn't "marked" classified.

And even Bill chose a different candidate for that job!

Based on reports, several different candidates................

But, I'm interested to know if anyone saw something I didn't.

Thought Trump did a decent job, still don't trust or believe Clinton on anything.

She reminds me of that story about the fox and scorpion that both were attempting to cross a swollen stream.   The scorpion being unable to swim convinced the fox to let it hop on the fox's back while the fox swam the stream.   Just as the fox was exiting the water on the far side, the scorpion stung the fox.   With his dying breath, the fox asked the scorpion why he had stung him.
The scorpion replied, I'm a scorpion, what did you expect?

I remember the parable as the Scorpion stinging the fox in the middle of the river thus dooming them both. I only hope the United States is not the fox.

You're probably correct on the parable.   I think it's very applicable to Hillary and unfortunately, we are that fox.

It would also be applicable to Trump, would it not ? After seeing Gary Johnson on Morning Joe this morning, I might end up sitting this one out.  tickedoff

Didn't see that on Johnson.   The mass media isn't giving him much attention.   Got a link to that interview?

While I am in the Johnson camp that is only because he is a safer choice than either of the major party candidates. I have not heard the gaff he made this morning, but I am sure I will at some point today. This may be the first presidential election that I write in Donald Duck while voting for the conservatives on the down ballot. I know that locally I see lots of Elvis for President signs (I want one too). And these signs are next to both Dem and Rep candidates for the senate seat. Elvis may win in my district.

Not applicable to Trump.

We are basing all of our assumptions on what a Clinton presidency will be like on factual actions, lies, and deceit.  So when someone says she's the scorpion, what should you expect, we can only base the answer on HER past/present actions.  All of a sudden she's not gonna lie anymore, not take money for access and positions, not leave Americans behind to die, not try to avoid the freedom of information act, not delete gov't agency emails, etc.  Why should we believe this will all not continue?  Because she says it won't?  She's the scorpion.

On the other side, the assumptions on what a Trump presidency will be like are based on guesses.

NOT even having a clue what "Alepo" is, wow!  The center of LOTS of problems and refugees, etc., and he had NO CLUE even what the word meant! As much as the left bashes Trump, Johnson PROVED he is way less informed of international affairs than Trump!

I do give him credit for owning up to his failing right away.  Normal politicians would somehow have shifted the blame to the questioner, or something!

I didn't know the name of the city either. At least not off hand. In past discussions, reading about the conflict, hearing about it on the news, it seems it always is Syria. If the question had been asked about Syria as opposed to a specific city in it, Mr. Johnson would have had an answer ready. Maybe not a good one, but an answer.

I have seen the interview of his "gaffe" but haven't seen the few minutes leading up to it. My guess is that this was the leading question about Syria which would have been rather out of context of what they were speaking about a few seconds before which is probably why it caught Mr. Johnson unprepared.

For me, he didn't fake it. He came right out and asked what was being discussed because he didn't know. Then he answered the question. As I said, I didn't know what Aleppo was either, but would have if put into proper context.

Imagine if someone asked you question after question about your Valk and out of the blue asked "What do you do about Aleppo?"  You'd probably say "Ah, What is that?"

Anyway, if I was scoring this I see it as a non issue.

True enough, for you and me.

But, for someone who wants to be President, to not have a clue about a MAJOR foreign problem?  Sorry.  Not acceptable.

But he did have a clue. He did know about the "foreign problem". It was just at that moment "Aleppo" didn't click as Syria would have. But I believe once he realized and understood the question was about Syria he had an answer to the original question did he not?
