This one's not a motorcycle and it's out of my price range but it is nice.

That is a nice one!!

I did pick up a Ruger Commander 1911 a few years back (in .45)... shoots like a dream!

I, too read the review, very impressive.  However, it's way out of my price range too.

When you invest this much money in a defense weapon, granted, it's nice, but what happens when you defend yourself with it, and find that its 'temporarily confiscated" for evidence while waiting for the prosecutor's decision, or a trial.

It could even get 'lost' somewhere while in custody, depending on the territory or city. Yeah, I have a suspicious mind. Smiley

jes my opinion.

Yep. I would love to someday have a Les Baer or a Republic Forge 1911. And for the reason you mentioned they'd be the last weapon I'd use in self-defense.

My Sigs are the ones for defense duty. They are tupperwear ugly, striker fired, and looked down upon by some 1911 enthusiasts but they will get the job done reliably and cheaper than the highly tuned (read expensive) 1911's

Like the Dan Wesson Valkyrie but don't need it as I have the Eco and also the specialist both in .45. But my new toy and pride and joy that came in just in time for my birthday is a Coonan. A 1911 that fires a .357 magnum. I am going to clean and oil it so I can go shooting this weekend. Can't wait.

Just three weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting Chris's )Psychotic Bovine) Coonan. What a neat 1911!

A nice solid soft recoil and extremely accurate. Another person at the range just couldn't get his head around a 1911 that shot the .357 revolver cartridge reliably!

Good choice, well made and a design marvel. cooldude
