Not long ago I released my permanent belly tank compatible lift adapter to be installed and remain on your bike; useful especially on a road trip if you need to lift your bike - just do it, it's ready for a standard bike lift.  Lightweight and discrete, I had tested it for strength with a hydraulic press, compound leverage, a bathroon scale and dial indicator. It actually took right at 500# to start bending a 1/2" 16ga piece of steel tubing at the 2" point.  The test setup:

BUT - one of our members managed to find a way to bend the larger, stronger 3/4" tubing. With 4 support points, that should have required the bike to be well over 2,000 lbs.

I want to be clear, not dissing him.  He found a problem I didn't expect; perhaps put it through a torture test and it failed.

Uh-oh.  So I got to work, tried to replicate what he did.  Couldn't with reasonable weight.  But then he didn't tell me how he did it.

So if he could do it someone else could too.  Though no one else reported that.

So I said, OK, I'm gonna make it crazy strong.  Doubled the wall thickness of the stressed part of the frame.  It's 0.120" now instead of 0.055".

I also said, don't lift on the 1/2" tubing if it isn't supported right above by a belly tank. I said, put the lift so it's also lifting the 3/4" tubing in that case.

But then, what if someone uses it w/o reading the instructions.  Or ignores them.  So I decided to make 2 versions.  One for bikes with belly tanks, and one without.  Now I maintain one can use the belly tank compatible adapter w/o a belly tank, if you don't lift on the small tubes only.  But if you know you will never install a belly tank - why not get the adapter with full-length bigger tubes.

The adapter for stock bikes:

The adapter for belly tank equipped bikes:

The belly tank adapter installed on my Jade:

The no-belly adapter installed on my George:

I should mention, I am talking about the R&M Works belly tank here.  I don't know of any other brand - to my knowledge, they are the only belly tank available.  This is for the standard version, not the smaller one for 6-6 pipes (Cobras I think).  Haven't tested the adapter with that tank.

Note, the 1/2" tubing locations is not a mistake.  The belly tank is asymmetrical.

Note also, the improved mounting hardware.  The mounting bolts now pull the adapter up tight against the bottom of the oil pan.  No shims like in V1.0.

If you don't have V1.0 lift adapter and want V2.0, the price remains at $59 even for the more expensive tubing, plus priority mail of $14, for the black lacquer finish. Add $8 for powder coat.

Just call it in or use paypal, contact info at website http://www.horseapple.com

OK so if you have V1.0 now, here's how we are doing the recall:
Get a free priority mail box from your post office, Regional Rate B side loading -  it's dimensions are 14.4X3X16.25.  Make a label and be sure I can read your postage cost.  Put in the box which version lift adapter you want - for belly tank or not.  Be sure I can read on or in the box, who you are. Add some padding around especially the back end of your v1.0 adapter so it doesn't poke through the box. I will return the appropriate lift adapter with a check up to $15 for postage.

EDIT  ALTERNATIVE TO RETURNING V1.0:  If you want to cut the recalled adapter in fourths and send me a picture of it, that will be accepted in lieu of returning it.  then I can ship your V2.0 replacement immediately.

To a great supporter of the VRCC. I am happy to say I have had 2 sets of his pipes and now the lift adapter. He is a stand up guy and we are lucky to have him.
Thanks Mark!

Thanks guys.  I appreciate the appreciation!

BTW I ran a batch of both styles in both finishes, so there's a number of them ready to ship in addition to those needed for recall replacements.  I did that also because my time is going to an important project soon so I needed to have them ready to ship w/o needing production time.  They are $59 for lacquor finish, $67 for powder coat, priority mail is $14, you can do that with paypal to valkstuff@horseapple.com or call it in to my phone given at www.horseapple.com

I plan to put these on ebay and facebook as well but not yet (due to expected high demand from them, with my time issue).  They will be listed higher $ at ebay.

Cheers!  Mark

I'm saving my pennies for Mark's lift.  My understanding is that it's lighter and stronger, and fits better.  Also, he makes two types in case you have or may ever consider a belly tank.

My adapter is offered as a better idea with more compatibility and less weight and bulk.  I too have 100% feedback of hundreds of transactions at ebay, but my adapters aren't sold there yet. I have never allowed anyone to finish unhappy in all of my transactions in the Valkyrie community (or anybody else for that matter). It weighs ONLY 3#, does not needlessly protrude into the space behind the transmission that is used by many accessories, but is instead a cantilever design, is incredibly strong made of welded 11 gauge box steel 3/4" tubing, available with lacquer or powder coat finish, uses the unused 13mm holes on the bottom of the engine casing so no need to unbolt or move anything else - installation takes one minute; is compatible with all exhausts and lifts and the belly tank (specify that version), is in stock and shipped by Priority Mail so typically delivered on the 2nd or 3rd day from the order; can be bought using paypal or call in a CC or even a personal check if you prefer. I support the VRCC so your purchase helps keep the lights on here.  Also give military / veterans discount if you are one.

Mark,
I just got the v2.0 today and installed it...looks great and I cant wait to get it on the lift!!!

And to BigM,  just read the title of this thread and I am sorry to say you may have misread it. Nowhere in it did I see the words "please post your thoughts on alternative lift adapters here please"

yep that one is good. I have it on my valk. Mark's is better, on top of all the benefits he stated

1) It brings the jacking point down just enough so you aren't lifting on the header pipes,  I need a spacer block so I can lift by the engine instead of headers.

2) You can position the jack forward or back to accommodate center of gravity with fairing, bags, or trunk. also if you're pulling front or rear wheel

I just like the E-bay one, is tucked up out of the way. Bolted to a solid crossmember. Not hangin down below motor. And mainly, ya know that the casting holes that this one mounts to is the alumn. motor block. Not intended to have stuff mounted too going down the road. Just as the rs one, on and off as needed. Just my opinion. And also have saw in the past here where a adapter is not needed wit the belly tank as can jack up on it. Like said ea. to his own. Good luck. We do need members to invent items for us to keep the Valk alive and i appreciate that. As rattlebars had several great items.

Maybe with some brainstorming you can fabricate some more negative things to double down on your bogus feedback without even having one to nitpick on.  My adapter doesn't "hang down" as though that is a bad thing, but is pulled up tight against the bottom of the cast oil pan when properly installed.  "On and off as needed". Like that's good.  Mine is installed once and forgotten until a lift is needed - while it weighs half or less than your adapter.  Jacking on the belly tank itself still requires an adapter - two wedge shaped blocks of wood or door stops. The holes in the block are there for the manufacturing process to hold the block during assembly but have no purpose after the bike is done. Yeah I saw them used for that when I toured the factory around '99. So I used them.  They are plenty strong but are only used to hold the weight of the adapter and some of the bike's weight - if you lift towards the back - which I could calculate but won't bother to waste my time on your behalf.  I'm busy with REAL work.

So Mark,
Got it up on the lift for the first time and I am sure it is just perception, but it looks stronger. Probably because it does not have the different size leg material.
Had no other issues with v1.0

Thanks again

Thanks!
